The actions carried out by the RDU against the youth of Nandi Hills are totally heinous, unlawful, and utterly unacceptable.

Storming a civilian business premises while heavily armed, destroying property, and violently assaulting unarmed young people is not law enforcement it is abuse of power in its worst form. The youth were not resisting arrest, nor were they engaged in any violent or criminal activity that warranted such excessive force.
If there was any alleged wrongdoing, the lawful and constitutional procedure was clear:arrest the suspects and present them at a police station.

Beating civilians mercilessly, causing serious injuries, and leaving others hospitalized is a gross violation of human rights and the rule of law.
Such actions undermine public trust in security agencies, traumatize communities, and endanger innocent lives. No uniform, rank,or unit gives anyone the authority to act with cruelty, vengeance,or impunity.

We strongly condemn this brutality and demand a thorough, independent investigation. Those responsible must be held personally accountable, and justice must be served for the victims.

The youth of Nandi Hills deserve protection, dignity, and respect not fear and violence.

When two poor people meet in a rich man’shouse, they will fight.

Not because they hate each other, but because scarcity turns brothers into rivals.

COB REVIEW NANDI COUNTY'S BUDGET IMPLEMENTATION

A team from the national Office of the Controller of Budget (COB) has commenced a week-long review of Nandi County’s budget implementation for the current financial year. The visit, which began today, is aimed at ensuring the prudent and efficient use of public funds.

The high-level delegation from the COB office held an entry meeting with key county officials on Monday to kick off the comprehensive audit, scheduled to run from August 25th to 29th, 2025.

The meeting brought together the COB officers and the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Finance and Economic Planning, the Chief Officer for Finance, the Director of Finance, and other senior accounting and supply chain management officials.

The session provided a crucial platform for initial dialogue on the status of the county’s budget ex*****on for the 2024/2025 Financial Year. Discussions focused on identifying measures to enhance service delivery to the residents of Nandi.

The audit is part of the COB's constitutional mandate established under Article 228 of the Constitution of Kenya (2010). The office is tasked with overseeing national and county government budgets by authorizing withdrawals from public funds and monitoring their usage.

The core objective of the visit is to promote accountability, transparency, and efficiency in the county’s utilization of public resources. The COB team is expected to evaluate spending, assess progress on projects, and provide recommendations to strengthen financial management.

The outcome of the review will be closely watched as a measure of the county's fiscal discipline and commitment to development goals.

The phrase MADE IN NANDI has been a foreign catchphrase in our county since the inception of devolution.

Today during the celebration of Madaraka Day in Sirwa Yala,Emgwen sub county,H.E. Governor Stephen Sang inspected a gaurd of honour mounted by the County's enforcement officers who were dressed in their official outfit which many residents confused them with the Airforce unit of the KDF. This is not due to a mere coincidence of colours but the extraordinary craftsmanship by non other than the Nandi Textile Unit (NATEX).

NATEX deserves the highest praise for their brilliance and unwavering professionalism. Thanks to H.E. Governor Stephen Sang for laying the foundation of manufacturing in Nandi, initiated and implemented by the county government.

Every stitch speaks of mastery, and every detail reflects an extraordinary commitment to quality and precision. From the flawless tailoring to the luxurious, durable fabric, the craftsmanship is nothing short of world-class. The elegant design balances tradition with modern refinement, showcasing not only aesthetic excellence but also a deep understanding of functionality and pride in service. This is not merely uniform production—it is artistry in motion, and NATEX stands as a paragon of excellence in the Tailoring industry.

NATEX continues to make various brands of attires ranging from school uniforms, official, casual and cultural wears.

A significant infrastructure improvement exercise commenced today in Kapsabet Municipality, focusing on identifying and earmarking roads and pathways for opening and grading. The initiative aims to address the growing infrastructure needs of the municipality, which has been experiencing increased encroachment brought about by rapid urban development. The exercise was conducted by a team of Engineers from several departments, including Roads, Water, Sewerage, Lands and Physical Planning.

The project will focus on improving road connectivity, ensuring better drainage to prevent flooding, and integrating essential water and sewerage systems. By upgrading these roads and pathways, the municipality hopes to support its expanding population while enhancing better accessibility for the locals and town investors. Efforts will be made to minimize disruptions during the grading and opening process.
