As part of our commitment to improving the quality of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), we are integrating ICT and e-learning into our curriculum to equip our learners with essential digital literacy skills from an early age and prepare them for a technology-driven future.

This morning, I presided over the opening of an ICT and E-Learning Training of Trainers Workshop targeting programme officers and ICT officers, who will subsequently train more than 1,000 ECDE teachers across the county.

In a strategic partnership, we have already onboarded 21,000 learners into the EIDU Programme. The remaining 15,000 learners will be onboarded in the next financial year. Part of our support programme includes the provision of tablets and digital learning content.

This afternoon, I hosted the Kipsigis Myoot Council of Elders, led by their Chairperson, Mzee Richard Ngeno, in my office for a consultative meeting to discuss emerging issues affecting the community.

A key focus of our discussions was the progress of the resettlement of members of the Talai community, alongside other pending resettlement matters. While commending the resettlement of the Kevoko squatters to facilitate town expansion, the elders emphasized the need for an expedited resolution of the outstanding Koguta Thesalia farms and Samburet issues. Addressing these matters would enable the settlement of communities currently residing on the land and create opportunities for the resettlement of the Talai community in the area.

We also deliberated on the opening of the Kipsigis Cultural Center at Moi Gardens and underscored the importance of the council taking a leading role in the collection, documentation, and preservation of Kipsigis historical and cultural artefacts to safeguard this rich heritage for future generations.

Hosted the Sub-County Administrators, for a comprehensive review of community feedback regarding the impact of our projects and the resolution of emerging concerns and conflicts where necessary.

During the engagement, we assessed our development progress through the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP), evaluating key achievements, identifying areas for improvement, and exploring strategies to further strengthen service delivery and development outcomes across the county.

The meeting provided an important opportunity to review the status of ongoing projects, reinforce accountability and transparency mechanisms, and ensure that community priorities and concerns remain central to our development agenda.

We are grateful to H.E. President William Samoei Ruto for the 536Km rift valley region corridor roads which will improve connectivity, stimulate trade, enhance access to markets and services, and unlock the economic potential of our region.

This morning when I hosted a delegation from the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), led by Deputy Director Eng. Rael Maswan, for a high-level consultation on the Roads for Rural Economic Development Project (RREDP), a World Bank-funded initiative that will see the upgrading of approximately 536 kilometres of critical road corridors across the South and North Rift regions.

Among the roads earmarked for upgrading is the 110-kilometre Kericho–Ainamoi–Poiywek–Chepkoiyo–Koisegem–Fort Ternan–Girimori–Kenegut Border Road and associated spur roads linking Kericho and Nandi counties. The project will also include the installation of optic fibre infrastructure alongside the road network to enhance digital connectivity and support economic growth.Contract signing is expected by the end of June 2026 while construction is expected to commence in the coming months.

The consultation focused on environmental and social safeguards, resettlement planning, stakeholder engagement, and economic feasibility studies ahead of project appraisal.
