𝗞𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗶 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

Works at the Kirangari Polytechnic Grounds in Nyathuna Ward are progressing steadily, with the contractor nearing completion of the grading, levelling, and compaction works.

Chain-link fencing materials have also arrived on site, with welding and assembly currently underway. The fencing will help secure the grounds and enhance the durability of the facility.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

Work on the new spectator stands at Thigio Grounds is progressing steadily, with the structural framework and steel reinforcement now largely in place.

The base walls, which will accommodate changing rooms and washrooms for players and other users of the facility, are also progressing well.

The next stage will involve concrete casting, followed by finishing works, setting of seating area and safety rails, and completion of changing rooms and washrooms access areas.

𝗞𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗶 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

The grading, levelling, and compaction of the Kirangari Polytechnic Grounds in Nyathuna Ward, Kabete Sub-County, are currently underway.

These are the initial stages of the project, aimed at achieving the correct ground level and gradient before the installation of the artificial turf.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

Work at Thika Stadium is progressing well, with key works around the new stalls nearing completion.

The demolition of the wall on the Whiteline Stage side has been completed up to the gate, while the installation of cabro paving around the stalls is also almost complete.

The ongoing improvements are part of efforts to enhance the stadium’s facilities and create a more accessible and secure environment for traders, customers, and the wider community.

𝗞𝗦𝗵 𝟮.𝟳𝗠 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗞𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗯𝘂 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀

The Department of Youth Affairs, Sports and Communication, wishes to congratulate St. Andrews FC and Unity Homes Ladies FC for emerging as the overall Champions of the Kiambu County League in the Men’s and Women’s categories, respectively.

Earlier in the year, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Kiambu Branch benefited from a KSh 2.7 Million sponsorship package from the Department of Youth Affairs, Sports and Communication under the leadership of H.E. Governor Dr. Kimani Wamatangi. The support covered affiliation fees for over 200 teams across the County.

Part of the sponsorship was set aside to reward winners of the Kiambu County Men’s and Women’s Leagues, which concluded last weekend.

Prize Breakdown:

Men’s Category:
1. Champions: St. Andrews FC (Juja) – KSh 200,000
2. 1st Runners-up: Alliance Youngsters FC (Kikuyu) – KSh 100,000
3. 2nd Runners-up: Del Monte Youth FC (Thika) – KSh 50,000

Women’s Category:
1. Champions: Unity Homes Ladies FC (Ruiru) – KSh 100,000
2. 1st Runners-up: JKUAT Ladies FC (Juja) – KSh 50,000

The winners will be awarded during a Gala Dinner. The date will be communicated in due course.

This initiative seeks to ease the financial burden faced by grassroots teams, many of which struggle to raise affiliation fees. The support enables teams to participate more effectively in organized leagues, enhances competition through incentives, and provides young players with opportunities to develop and showcase their talents.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

Construction of the spectator stands at Thigio Grounds is progressing well, with the works currently 60% complete.

Once completed, the stands will have a capacity of 500 spectators, providing a better and more comfortable space for fans to enjoy sporting events.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

Work is moving full steam ahead at Thika Stadium, with the installation of cabro paving currently underway around the new stalls.

The wall next to Whiteline Stage is being demolished to create an easy access point to the new stalls for traders and customers.

The stalls will provide small-scale traders with a good place to do business. They will also act as an additional security barrier around the stadium, helping to protect the facility.

𝗚𝗶𝘁𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗶 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗨𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

There is good progress being made at Githunguri Stadium, with the contractor currently carrying out field grading, levelling, and compaction. These works are aimed at achieving the right ground level and a firm, stable surface for the installation of the AstroTurf.

Proper grading and levelling will also help ensure effective water drainage, preventing water from collecting on the playing surface during rainy periods.

Meanwhile, construction of the stalls for small-scale traders at the front of the stadium is also progressing well. The structural framework for the Ground Floor plus One Upper Floor (G+1) is almost complete.

Once completed, the upgraded stadium will provide a better sporting environment for players and fans, while the new stalls will create opportunities for small-scale traders especially the youth and contribute to economic activity around the facility.

𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀

Good progress is being made on the stalls around Thika Stadium, with the contractor now working on the final touches.

The stalls are almost complete, with the contractor currently installing road channels and laying fine dust around the area next to Whiteline Stage. The next step will be the installation of cabro paving.

The cabro paving will create a cleaner and more organised space for traders and customers. It will also improve accessibility, reduce dust and mud, and make the trading area more attractive and convenient for everyone.

Once the project is complete, the stalls will be allocated to small-scale traders at no cost, providing them with a decent space to conduct their businesses and earn a living.

𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵

The County Government of Kiambu, through the Directorates of Youth Affairs and Special Programmes, is making good progress with the ongoing cabro installation programme, aimed at improving public spaces while creating opportunities for young people.

Work is already underway at Muguga Vocational Training Centre, with Kahuho and Ruku Shopping Centres also set to benefit. Kalimoni Ward is next in line for cabro installation.

Beyond improving roads and public spaces, the programme is also creating jobs and hands-on opportunities for local youth, enabling them to gain valuable skills and earn a living.
