Behind every statistic on diabetes and hypertension is a person, a parent trying to provide for their family, a young person hoping to live a healthy life, or an older resident who simply wants to remain active and independent.

Recognising this human cost, Kiambu County is strengthening collaboration with the Ministry of Health Division of Cancer and Non Communicable Diseases, the County Health Management Team, the County Assembly Health and Budget Committees, and partners including the World Diabetes Foundation, Diabetes Management and Information Centre, NCD Alliance Kenya and Public Funds Management.

The engagement is focused on addressing gaps in NCD services and financing, strengthening diabetes and hypertension care within primary healthcare, and identifying sustainable investments that can bring quality care closer to residents.

Food fortification is the process of adding essential vitamins and minerals to commonly consumed foods to improve their nutritional value and help prevent micronutrient deficiencies.

In Kiambu County Government-Kenya, this important public health intervention is receiving renewed attention following the reconstitution of the Kiambu County Food Fortification Alliance (KCFFA), bringing together health officials and other key stakeholders to strengthen coordination, promote compliance with fortification standards and improve awareness.

The initiative seeks to ensure that everyday foods such as maize and wheat flour, vegetable oils and fats and salt contribute to better nutrition, particularly in protecting people from deficiencies that can affect growth, health and overall wellbeing.

Support Supervision at Githunguri Level 3 Hospital and Matonya Level 2 Hospital.

Our County Health Management Team (CHMT) conducted a support supervision visit at Githunguri Level 3 Hospital and Matonya Level 2 Hospital today as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare systems and enhance the quality of services offered to the community.

This continous programme provided an opportunity to engage with our healthcare workers, monitor progress, identify challenges, share feedback, and work together towards practical solutions that contribute to efficient, quality, and people-centred healthcare.

Today supervision visit was at Kaburi and Kagaa Level 3 hospital facilities reminded us why this work matters.

Our County Health Management Team was on the ground observing service delivery, ensuring our healthcare workers have the support and resources they need to serve you well.

This helps to strengthen every point of care, from patient registration to treatment outcomes.
When we invest in supervision, we invest in you. Quality healthcare starts with facilities that are accountable, staff that are equipped, and systems that work. Our health facilities are committed to continue providing the care Kiambu residents deserve.

Healthcare is not just about buildings, machines or ambulances. It is about the mother who receives help in time, the patient who no longer has to travel far for treatment, and the family that finds hope when it matters most.

With 56 health facilities renovated, modern medical equipment upgraded and 19 new ambulances added, we are bringing faster, safer and more reliable healthcare closer to the people.

Because every improvement in our health system is ultimately about one thing; touching lives, restoring hope and ensuring that every Kiambu resident can access the care they deserve.

Health Products and Technologies are at the heart of a strong and responsive healthcare system.
Through the establishment of the Ruiru Central Medical Store, Kiambu County Government-Kenya is strengthening the availability, management and distribution of essential medicines and health products across all health facilities.

The goal is clear: to maintain reliable stock levels, reduce shortages and ensure that every facility is adequately supplied to deliver quality healthcare to the people of Kiambu.

From the central store to the patient, every product matters. Every supply counts. Every life matters.

Presbyopia, a common age related condition that affects the ability to see objects clearly at close range, took centre stage today as we held an entry meeting with Dot Glasses and its partners ahead of the planned community eye health camps under the Nona Campaign.

The initiative seeks to improve access to affordable near-vision correction for adults aged 35 years and above and will target Limuru, Kiambu, Lari, Githunguri, Gatundu North and Gatundu South sub-counties.

The planned camps are expected to complement the County Government’s efforts to strengthen preventive and primary healthcare services.

Through the collaboration, the Department will work closely with the implementing partners to promote ethical practice, voluntary participation, data privacy, appropriate coordination and compliance with relevant health regulations, while supporting community mobilization, oversight and effective delivery of vision-screening and eyeglasses services.
