🌿 Tribute to the Late Father Rev. Peter Kiarie
Today, we pause with heavy hearts yet deep gratitude for the life of Father Rev. Peter Kiarie — a compassionate shepherd, a faithful servant of God, and a true friend.
For over 20 years, I had the privilege of knowing Father Peter, from his days serving in Thigio and through his continued ministry thereafter. His life was a testimony of humility, grace, and unwavering devotion to God’s people. He did not simply preach the Gospel — he lived it.
Father Peter had a rare gift: he made everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. His compassion was not selective; it flowed freely to all — the struggling, the joyful, the young, and the old. His priesthood was not just a vocation; it was his very being.
I will always remember his warm hospitality during his time in Githunguri. After Mass, we could retreat for a simple cup of tea — moments of reflection, laughter, counsel, and brotherhood. Those were not ordinary moments; they were sacred in their simplicity. They revealed the heart of a man who understood that ministry is as much about presence as it is about preaching.
Father Peter also stood with me in prayer and encouragement during my time serving as Governor of Kiambu County. His quiet support, spiritual counsel, and friendship were a source of strength and reassurance. He reminded me that leadership is ultimately about service — a lesson he exemplified every day.
His passing leaves a void, but his light remains. His works speak. His prayers echo. His example endures.
May the Lord, whom he served so faithfully, receive him into eternal rest.
May perpetual light shine upon him.
Rest in peace, dear Father Peter.
