Earlier today, the County Executive Commitee Member (CECM) Kilifi Dept of Lands, Energy, Housing, Physical Planning & Urban Devt and our Municipal Manager, Mr. Mwango Kalu, flagged off a team of officers who will undertake a 10-day stakeholder mapping exercise across the four wards of the municipality.

‎The exercise is a vital step towards gathering accurate data and information to support effective planning and preparation for the revenue collection function within the Municipality.

We successfully concluded our public participation forums in Mnarani Ward at CDF Nursery Hall, Sokoni.

‎The forum provided an opportunity to engage residents in identifying priority development projects while also sensitizing them on proper solid waste management practices and emergency response procedures.
‎
‎We appreciate everyone who participated and contributed to shaping a cleaner, safer and sustainable Municipality.

The Kazi Mashinani Program, implemented under the vision of H.E. Hon. Gideon Mung'aro, has successfully come to an end in the Municipality of Kilifi.

‎Over the past three months, dedicated youth worked tirelessly to enhance the cleanliness, safety and the beauty of our municipality through bush clearing, environmental conservation and the maintenance of public spaces.

Through our Social Services Section, we engaged Mnarani Ward residents and stakeholders at Mkwajuni Polytechnic to solicit views and opinions on priority development projects.

‎Through our Social Services Section, we engaged Kibarani Ward residents and stakeholders at Charo Wa Ngoma Hall to gather views on priority development projects. The forum also included sensitization on proper solid waste management, fire safety and emergency response.

Our Municipal Manager Mwango Kalu, joined the County Secretary, Hon. Philip Charo, the CECM for Kilifi Department of Special Programs and Disaster Management , Hon. Marijsanaa Yahya and representatives from the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and the Kenya Red Cross Kilifi, led by Peter Murgor, for an introductory meeting on the Strengthening Early Warning and Early Action Systems Project.

Alongside Homa Bay County, Kilifi County has been selected to implement the project through the visionary leadership of H.E. Governor Gideon Maitha Mung'aro.

The project, funded by the Italian Development Cooperation, seeks to establish the Kilifi County Emergency Situation Room at the Municipality of Kilifi Fire Station. Once completed, it will enhance real-time data sharing, risk analysis and early response through the installation of modern ICT infrastructure, integration of multi-hazard risk data, and development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to facilitate timely alerts and coordinated action before disasters strike.

Public participation is essential in improving decision-making, strengthening institutional accountability and building trust between the Municipality and stakeholders. It ensures that policies, programs and development projects reflect the real needs and priorities of the community.

‎Today, we conducted a public participation forum for Tezo Ward at Zowerani Chief's Camp. Residents were sensitized on proper solid waste management practices, fire services and emergency response procedures. Residents also provided feedback and proposed priority development projects for the ward.
‎
‎The exercise was attended by Municipal Board Members Nana Salim, Barke Mohamed, Municipal Manager Mr. Mwango Kalu, Municipal Departmental Heads, Tezo Ward Administrator Tsuma Rimba and Zowerani Location Area Chief Julius Nzai.
‎
‎As a Municipality we reaffirm our commitment to inclusive governance and citizen-driven development.

Kilifi County Government was honoured to host Principal Secretary Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak, EBS (State Department for Science, Research and Innovation), during his recent tour of Mazingira Park. He was joined by Hon. Sabrina Mkare Jefwa, CEC for Blue Economy (Lamu County); Prof. James H.P. Kahindi, Vice Chancellor of Pwani University; Chief Officer Winnie Luwali (ICT and Public Service Management); and Kilifi Municipality Manager Mr. Mwango Kalu.

During the visit, the PS expressed commitment to supporting the development of a state-of-the-art Innovation Hub at the park, empowering local youth with a dedicated space to build digital skills, innovate, and access resources for entrepreneurship and career growth. For the wider community, the hub promises to boost digital literacy and open fresh opportunities for economic development across Kilifi.
Mazingira Park is already leading the way as a vibrant community space, offering free public Wi-Fi where technology, learning, and recreation meet.
