INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATION – MTOMODONI GROUND, SHIMO LA TEWA

Mtwapa Municipality staff joined the community in celebrating International Youth Day at Mtomodoni Ground in Shimo la Tewa Ward, together with the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), Mtwapa, and other participants.

The event served as an important platform to recognize and celebrate the contributions of young people to community development, while encouraging them to take an active role in shaping the future of their communities.

Discussions and activities highlighted the importance of youth empowerment, leadership, education, skills development, entrepreneurship, innovation, and meaningful participation in community affairs. Young people were urged to seize available opportunities, nurture their talents, and become positive agents of change within their communities.

Mtwapa Municipality continues to recognize the youth as vital partners in promoting inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable urban development. Through collaboration with stakeholders, the Municipality remains committed to supporting initiatives that create opportunities for young people and strengthen their participation in development.

Stakeholders Mapping Engagement Exercise Officially Launched

The Stakeholders Mapping Engagement Exercise has officially been launched by Hon. Jane Kamto, County Executive Committee Member for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development, marking the beginning of an important initiative by Mtwapa Municipality to strengthen stakeholder collaboration and partnerships.

The exercise, running from 10th to 28th August 2026, aims to identify and update stakeholder information across all wards, supporting better planning, coordination, public participation, and service delivery.

The exercise kicks off in Shimo la Tewa Ward before proceeding to other wards.

Settlement and Urban Planning Meeting

Today, Mtwapa Municipality staff participated in a settlement and urban planning meeting alongside the Office of the Member of Parliament, the Office of the Chief, the Office of the Member of the County Assembly, the National Department of Physical Planning, and the County Department of Physical Planning to promote orderly, safe, and sustainable development in Mikanjuni Village.

During the meeting, Mtwapa Municipal Staffs emphasized the importance of proper physical planning, fire safety, and effective storm water drainage as essential components of building a well-planned, resilient, and secure community. The discussions also highlighted the need for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to support sustainable urban growth and improve the quality of life for residents.

Together, we remain committed to creating a safer and more organized Mtwapa for present and future generations.

Mtwapa Municipality staff successfully carried out the weekly clean‑up exercise across all wards, reaffirming our commitment to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment.

This week’s focus areas included:
✅ Shimo la Tewa Ward – from National Bank to Chief’s Camp
✅ Mtepeni Ward – along Barani Road
✅ Junju Ward – along the Vipingo Highway
