Agroforestry Training in Subukia
This week, on monday amd Thursday, we trained a new group of farmers joining the Subukia Green Intelligence Agroforestry CBO.

The training equipped farmers with practical agroforestry skills to establish productive orchards and integrate trees into their farms.

As a key component of Regenerative Farming, agroforestry promotes healthy soils, biodiversity, resilience, and greater use of locally available natural inputs reducing dependence on external inputs.

Today, Green Intelligence Kenya (GIK) continued its Regenerative Farming Training in Morro Village, Subukia Ward, Nakuru County, bringing together 50 farmers for a practical learning session.
The training is designed to help farmers shift from dependence on external inputs to making better use of the natural resources available within their farms and communities.
Through regenerative practices, farmers are learning how to: Build and restore healthy soilsConserve and manage waterUtilize locally available organic and natural inputsEnhance biodiversity through diversified farming systemsBuild more resilient and sustainable farming enterprises
This is more than a change in farming practices: it is a mindset shift towards healthier soils, stronger farms, improved household resilience, and sustainable food production.

Green Intelligence Kenya (GIK) commenced its first Regenerative Farming Training today, reaching 50 farmers with tailored, practical training.
The training is designed to equip farmers with the knowledge and skills to embrace regenerative farming as a sustainable alternative for food production creating forest-like farming systems that work in harmony with nature.
The approach focuses on three key areas:
Environment
Restoring soil health, conserving water, and enhancing biodiversity.
Economy
Improving farm productivity, reducing production costs, and creating sustainable income opportunities.
Households
Strengthening food security, improving nutrition, and increasing household resilience.

Regenerative farming is not just about growing food it is about regenerating the land, strengthening livelihoods, and building a sustainable future.

GIK Regenerative Farming Training
GIK is proud to announce that, starting at the end of next week, we will begin training all our farmers on Regenerative Farming every Thursday and Friday of every week in the month of September.

The training will focus on building Resiliennt Farm Design with healthy soils, maximum biodiversity, minimum soil disturbance, water conservation, and livestock integration.

Farmers will also learn how to maximize locally available resources such as manure, organic matter, water channels, compost, and plant-based pesticides, while reducing dependence on external farm inputs.

Starting Date: 3rd Sept, 2026.
End Date: 25th Sept, 2026.
Location. Subukia, Nakuru.

Continuous support and capacity building for farmers in regenerative farming are key to improving sustainable livelihoods and strengthening community resilience.

A few weeks ago, our Country Director and Co-Founder, Heleen Verbeek, together with the Project Manager, Jeconiah Kibagendi, visited GIK hibiscus farmer Catherine Gachoki during a field visit.

Through the project, Catherine has learned how to integrate trees with high-value crops such as hibiscus and moringa, creating a more diverse and productive farming system while supporting soil health, biodiversity, and household livelihoods.
