This Bill aims to provide a legal framework for the establishment, regulation, administration, maintenance and sustainability of markets within Kisumu County.

The Chairperson of the Senate County Public Accounts Committee Hon. Moses Kajwang' has commended the Kisumu County Assembly's Public Accounts and Investments Committee for considering all the Financial Year 2024/2025 audit reports within the statutory timelines.

He observed that the Committee's commitment to timely scrutiny and reporting of the Auditor-General's findings reflects a high standard of oversight and reinforces accountability in the management of public resources.

He made this recognition in his opening remarks during interrogation of Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o when he appeared before the Senate County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) earlier today to respond to audit queries arising from the Auditor-General's reports for the Financial Year 2024/2025.

The reports under consideration were those of the County Executive of Kisumu, the Receiver of Revenue and the County Revenue Fund.

The recognition by the Senate CPAC is a significant affirmation of the County Assembly's commitment to discharging its constitutional oversight mandate effectively. It further highlights the important role played by PICPAC in promoting transparency, accountability, and sound public financial management through the timely consideration of audit reports and the implementation of appropriate recommendations.

The Governor was accompanied by the Chairperson of the Public Investments and County Public Accounts Committee (PICPAC), a member of the Committee, and the Committee Clerk, in line with the established practice of supporting the County delegation during the Senate's consideration of county audit reports.

The County Assembly of Kisumu has set up a standout exhibition booth at the ongoing Kisumu A.S.K. show, which opened its doors to exhibitors and members of the public on 22.7.2026 at the Mamboleo showground.

The County Assembly stand has been widely recognized for its excellence in engaging the public on legislation, representation and oversight tied to promoting Climate- Smart Agriculture and trade.

The judges who visited the stand were drawn to its informative layout and interactive approach, ranking it the best County Assembly stand at the show.

Judges and visitors alike highlighted the Assemblyโ€™s role in facilitating dialogue on how policy frameworks can support climateโ€‘smart innovation and investment in agricultureโ€”making it one of the most impactful stands at the show .

The Assembly has made tremendous steps aimed at improving food security and trade in the County by passing various legislations such as Kisumu County Fisheries and Aquaculture Act, 2019, Kisumu County Crop Act, 2019 and Kisumu County Enterprise Fund Act, 2018.

The Kisumu County Agriculture Facilities Improvement Financing Act, 2023, the Kisumu County Agriculture Sector Coordination Mechanism (KASCOM) Act, 2023 and the Kisumu County Cess Act, 2024 further seek to transform the management as well as financing of the critical agriculture sector in the county.
