Lake Basin Development Authority LBDA is a Regional Authority (RDA) established in 1979 by an act of parliament CAP 442 to spearhead development in the Kenya portion of Lake Victoria Basin P.O.

LBDA is empowered to undertake overall integrated planning, coordination and implementation of programs and projects in the basin. the basin and its catchments cover an area of 39,000 square kilometers exclusive of lake Victoria's area of 4,000 square kilometers. the authority's area of jurisdiction covers 18 counties, 15 of which are fully covered and 3 covered partially.
