Following a successful and engaging Youth Public Barazas, the House Business Committee will now convene to carefully analyze the issues, recommendations and concerns raised by young people and community members during the session.

The committee sitting is an important step in ensuring that the voices shared during the baraza do not end with discussion alone, but are translated into meaningful action, follow-up and policy direction. Key matters affecting the youth and the wider community including service delivery, opportunities, development priorities and social challenges will be reviewed in depth to identify practical solutions and the next course of action.

Hundreds of youths from different villages across Pongwe Kikoneni attended our Youth Baraza at Kibuyuni, where we held a very meaningful and engaging dialogue on some of the pressing challenges affecting our communities.

Among the key issues raised was the waterlogged area at the centre of Kibuyuni village, where during rainy seasons water stagnates for long periods, making roads impassable and affecting movement within the village. As part of our commitment towards finding solutions, we shall be writing a letter to the Huawei company near Kibuyuni requesting support in providing a tractor that can help create a pathway for proper water drainage and improve accessibility.

We sincerely thank every young person who took their time to attend and contribute towards these important discussions. Your voices matter, and together we shall continue pushing for solutions and addressing as many challenges as possible within our capacity.

Special thanks to IEBC and Generation Kenya for joining us and making the Baraza a success. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to The Oslo Center, supported by Left Forum, for making these engagements possible and for continuously supporting youth participation and community development.

Together, we move forward for a better and more empowered community.

Yesterday at Mwananyamala, Dzombo Ward, we successfully conducted the male by-election. Congratulations to Hon. Shee on your well-deserved victory. We also extend our sincere appreciation to IEBC for delivering a free and fair electoral process.

Our baraza in Dzombo Ward was highly engaging and productive. We had meaningful discussions and collectively explored ways forward on key issues affecting the community. Among the concerns raised were persistent power shortages—we will be writing formally to KPLC to seek lasting solutions. On the issue of understaffing in dispensaries, we will undertake further research and compile a comprehensive report to present to the relevant authorities.

Regarding roads and other community challenges, we remain committed to working together with all stakeholders to identify and implement sustainable solutions.

Finally, we extend our gratitude to The Oslo Center for their continued support.

A powerful and engaging day at Jogoo Grounds, Bongwe Gombato. The youth turned up in great numbers, raising genuine and pressing issues affecting their daily lives. Key concerns highlighted included rising insecurity, high unemployment levels, a growing disconnect between leaders and the youth and the challenge of accessing social halls due to imposed charges.

While a few matters received immediate attention, it is clear that much more still needs to be done.

We also witnessed active civic engagement, with Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission officials present, enabling the registration and transfer of around 50 voters — a strong step toward youth participation in governance.

The baraza was honored by the presence of the area MCA, Hon. Tumaini, and Board Member of Fisheries, Hon. Omar Boga, whose engagement with the youth was highly appreciated.

This impactful forum was proudly supported by The Oslo Center.

The conversation continues — and so does the action.
