The Fort Originally a private home, The Fort has now opened it's doors for all who share our Passion and Love for Lamu and for all who surely will one day! Karibu Fort!

The Fort is the perfect vacation rental for those who seek to get away from it all, as well as it is the ideal choice for family reunions, weddings and parties for any other occasion. Located directly on the beach it offers 9 bed rooms with their own bath rooms and a pool area. Downstairs you will find the kitchen, the dining and living area and the pool while there is another dining and lounge area with stunning views on the upper floor. Our staff of 7 looks after all your needs and provides you with all the assistance you need. We welcome you to enjoy beach life at it's best and our culinary delights of daily fresh seafood and local produce.

At the centre of the Fort, water finds its own quiet.

Framed by white stone and palm shade, the pool isn't the main event, it's the pause between them. A morning lap before breakfast. An afternoon float with nowhere to be. The sound of water lapping gently against stone while the island goes about its day beyond the walls.

Some places build a pool for the view. The Fort built one for the stillness.

It’s the clink of ice in a freshly shaken cocktail, the aroma of dinner drifting through the warm evening air, the sound of the waves replacing background music, and conversations that linger long after the sun has gone down.

It’s funny how quickly your sense of time changes in Lamu. One drink turns into sunset. Sunset drifts into dinner. Conversations stretch a little longer because nobody is looking at their watch, and somehow the day ends feeling wonderfully full despite having done so little.

One of the loveliest things about staying at the Fort is that meals never feel like something you simply fit into the day. They become part of it.

You might find yourself lingering over lunch a little longer than you planned, asking for another helping of the catch that came in that morning, or staying at the table long after dessert has disappeared because the conversation feels too good to leave.
