Last Saturday, the Lamu Law Courts family came together for a memorable day of celebration, reflection, and appreciation as we marked the achievements of the 2025/2026 financial year.

The event was more than just a celebration, it was a testament to the strong spirit of teamwork and unity that defines our court. Judicial Officers and staff stepped away from their daily responsibilities to enjoy quality time together in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere.

One of the highlights of the day was preparing meals together. From chopping ingredients to stirring pots and serving one another, everyone participated with enthusiasm. The shared cooking experience created a warm environment where ranks were set aside, conversations flowed freely, laughter filled the air, and lasting memories were made.

As we gathered around the table to enjoy the meals we had prepared together, the occasion reminded us that our greatest achievements are built not only through individual dedication but also through collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to service.

The celebrations culminated in a recognition and awards ceremony, where certificates of appreciation were presented to acknowledge the outstanding dedication, teamwork, and commitment demonstrated throughout the 2025/2026 year. These recognitions served as a heartfelt reminder that every contribution big or small plays a vital role in the success of Lamu Law Courts.

Lamu Law Court held its First Quarter Court Users Committee (CUC) Meeting at the new court building.

The meeting was chaired by Hon. Wasike, Head of Station, who warmly welcomed all CUC stakeholders to the new premises. He expressed appreciation for their continued collaboration and emphasized the important role of the CUC in strengthening access to justice, enhancing service delivery, and fostering coordination across the justice sector.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss key issues affecting the administration of justice and reaffirm the shared commitment to delivering efficient, accessible, and people-centred justice for the people of Lamu.

Lamu Law Courts today held a special prayer session to mark the beginning of operations at its new court premises, bringing together judicial officers, staff, and key stakeholders in a moment of thanksgiving and dedication. Also in attendance was Mr. Mutua the Deputy Director of the Directorate of Administration and Services.

As Lamu Law Courts prepares to relocate to its new premises at Forodhani, staff held their final meeting at the current station, marking the end of an important chapter and the beginning of a new one. From the staff perspective, the move represents more than a change of location. It is a significant step towards acquiring additional and safe working space to better support court operations, accommodate growing service demands, and enhance the overall experience of court users.

Yesterday, 18 June 2026, the Lamu Environment and Land Court conducted a tree planting exercise at Lamu Girls High School as part of its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability. The activity brought together court staff, CUC, and students in a collective effort to promote a greener Lamu. A total of 500 trees were planted within the school compound. Alongside the environmental initiative, the Lamu ELC donated sanitary towels to the students as a gesture of support toward their well being and education.

Lamu Law Courts held a Bar Bench Meeting at Court 1, bringing together members of the Bench and the Bar to discuss matters aimed at enhancing the administration of justice and service delivery. A key agenda item was the proposed relocation of Lamu Law Courts to a new building.

Lamu Law Courts will officially relocate to its new premises at Forodhani, next to Sunsail Hotel, effective 1st July 2026. We look forward to serving the public from our new location.

On Friday 13th March 2026, the Presiding Judge Hon. Justice Jesse Nyagah and his Deputy Registrar Hon. Oscar Kinyua conducted a supervisory visit to Lamu Law Courts, where they held a meeting with staff to discuss operations, challenges, and ways to improve service delivery. They later visited Hindi Prison to assess inmate conditions and review case progress, reaffirming the Judiciary’s commitment to timely and fair administration of justice, before proceeding to Mpeketoni Law Courts. At Hindi Prison, the Head of Station Mpeketoni Law Courts Hon. Israel Ruhu was present alongside Hon. Flavian Mulama RM of Lamu Law Courts.
