Today, we are in Kibauni Ward, Mwala Constituency, for an engagement with Mama Mboga and small-scale traders at Ikalaasa Chief’s Camp.

We are joining Hon. Vincent Kawaya, CBS, MP for Mwala Constituency and UDA Organising Secretary, who is the Chief Guest, and Hon. Don Wambua, MCA for Kibauni Ward, who is hosting the engagement.

We are also joined by Hon. Joshua Mwalyo, MP for Masinga Constituency.

We are further joined by Hon. Brian Kisila, MCA for Mwala Ward; Hon. Boniface Katiti, MCA for Muthetheni Ward; and Hon. Rose Benjamin, Nominated MCA.

We are also accompanied by Hon. Sammy Nduva (BR), former MCA for Kithimani Ward.

Mama Mboga and small-scale traders are central to the everyday economy of our communities. Our engagement here is about recognising their contribution, addressing the barriers that hold their businesses back, and creating room for them to grow and improve their livelihoods.

Today, we are in Kivaa Ward, Masinga Constituency, for an engagement with Mama Mboga and small-scale traders at Kithyoko Primary School.

We are joining Hon. Vincent Kawaya, CBS, MP for Mwala and UDA Organising Secretary, who is the Chief Guest, and Hon. Joshua Mwalyo, MP for Masinga Constituency, who is hosting the engagement.

We are also accompanied by Hon. Sammy Nduva (BR), former MCA for Kithimani Ward.

Mama Mboga and small-scale traders are an important part of our local economy. Through these engagements, we continue to listen to their experiences, understand the challenges they face, and discuss ways of creating a better environment for their businesses and livelihoods to thrive.

350 days left to change Machakos

SHA has expanded access to healthcare for millions of Kenyans. Today, 32.3 million Kenyans are registered under SHA. Since October 2024, SHA has received more than KSh 209 billion and paid over KSh 178 billion to healthcare facilities across all 47 counties, supporting treatment for more than 8 million citizens.

Yet in Machakos, our people continue to face serious challenges in our health facilities, including shortages of medicines, weaknesses in the procurement and distribution of drugs, inadequate medical equipment, and a demotivated healthcare workforce. These challenges must be addressed if the benefits of SHA are to be fully felt by our people.

Under my administration, we will strengthen accountability in our health institutions through stronger oversight, better support and motivation of healthcare workers, and systems that ensure medicines and medical equipment are properly procured, transparently accounted for, and reach the facilities where they are needed. Our commitment is simple: every resource allocated to healthcare must reach its intended purpose and deliver better care for our people.

Technopolis Development Authority (Konza City) sits at the intersection of Machakos, Makueni and Kajiado counties.

Technopolis is a multi-billion-dollar investment by the Government of Kenya, with the ambition of positioning Kenya as Africa’s hub for science, technology and innovation. The communities surrounding this investment must be deliberate beneficiaries of the opportunities it creates.

The current county boundaries and arrangements have placed Machakos youth at a disadvantage, limiting their access to employment opportunities available to young people from the neighbouring counties. I therefore appeal to H.E. President William Ruto, CGH to help address this disparity and ensure that young people from Machakos have fair and equitable access to the opportunities created by this institution.

Furthermore, the County Government of Machakos currently lacks a clear strategy for leveraging Technopolis to drive the development of our county. This is a missed opportunity that I intend to change when I take office. We have a large pool of educated and talented young people who must be deliberately positioned to benefit from the opportunities Technopolis presents.

353 days to Change Machakos

Today, we accompanied President William Ruto, CGH, as he launched the construction of the 20-kilometre Makaveti-Kyangala-iiuni Road in Machakos Town Constituency, which is being upgraded at a cost of KSh 1 billion. We also inspected the progress of the Kimutwa Modern Market.

We thank Hon. Caleb Mule, MP for Machakos Town Constituency, for championing this important project.

I was in the company of Hon. Vincent Musyoka, MP for Mwala; Hon. Joshua Mwalyo, MP for Masinga; Professor Philip Kaloki, UDA Gubernatorial Aspirant for Makueni County; Teresia Mbaika Malokwe, CBS, Principal Secretary for the State Department for Aviation and Aerospace Development; Mr Jacob Muganda Regional Commisioner, Eastern; and a host of MCAs.

For the residents of Kalama, this road is a long-awaited investment. Its completion will improve connectivity, access to markets and businesses, and create greater economic opportunities for the area.

If elected, improving Machakos’ road network will be integral to my development agenda, connecting communities, opening up markets and creating opportunities for our people.
