Climate finance is the money used to help countries cut emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change.

Here's what that means:

✅ Funds come from public, private and international sources
✅ Many developing countries need more support to adapt
✅ Money can fund adaptation, clean energy, and loss and damage
✅ Young people can ask how climate funds are used
✅ Transparent financing builds climate resilience

Climate decisions are also money decisions. When young people understand where the funds come from, where they go and who benefits, we can ask better questions and help hold those decisions to account.

Climate solutions already exist in our communities. Youth exchange is how young people find them.

This week, the Kenyan YouSustain Consortium met Hon. Emily Achieng, Mombasa County Executive Committee Member, to reflect on our youth exchange programme and explore how the county can be a partner in it.

For Tuboreshe Pamoja, exchange is not just travel. It is a way for young people to meet local solutions, indigenous knowledge and community leadership up close, then carry those ideas home and adapt them where they live.

To make that possible, we asked the County Government of Mombasa to help us connect with community-based organisations already leading climate action on the ground. Our participants will learn from the people doing the work, and see what locally led climate action looks like in practice.

We are also honoured that Hon. Achieng has accepted our invitation to be Chief Guest at the programme's closing ceremony on 24 October.

When young people, county leadership and grassroots organisations sit at the same table, learning turns into collaboration, and collaboration turns into lasting change.

Strengthening Population & Development Action in Machakos

Tuboreshe Pamoja was pleased to participate in the Population Programme Implementers Meeting convened by the National Council for Population and Development (NCPD) in Machakos County.

The forum brought together development actors to reflect on key population and development priorities, share experiences, and explore how the Kenya National Population Policy for Sustainable Development (KNPPSD) can translate into meaningful action at the county and community levels.

For Tuboreshe Pamoja, this engagement goes beyond a stakeholder meeting. It is an opportunity to:

- Bring grassroots voices into population and development conversations.
- Strengthen partnerships and coordination among development actors.
- Connect our work on youth, women, SRHR, leadership and economic resilience with broader development priorities.
- Identify gaps and opportunities for collaboration across Machakos.
- Help translate policy into practical, community-led action.

We believe sustainable development happens when policy, partnerships and communities move together.

Last week in Machakos, Tuboreshe Pamoja took part in the second member organisation training under the Transformative Partnerships Project, organised bYouth Alive! Kenya and supported by .

The training brought together member organisations from Machakos County to strengthen their knowledge and confidence on governance, constitutional rights, and climate action covering the Constitution of Kenya 2010, devolution, public participation, and social accountability.
Participants also deepened their understanding of climate change and just transitions, and the role young people and community organisations play as duty bearers and agents of change.

We all have a responsibility to build communities that are accountable, resilient, and ready for the future for ourselves and for generations of Kenyans to come.

Recap: The 6th Annual Civic Space Protection Summit Makueni County

Tuboreshe Pamoja joined civil society organizations, human rights defenders, and grassroots voices from across Kenya for two days of honest conversation on the state of our civic space.

This year's theme, "Voices Unbowed: Celebrating Civic Space in an Era of Democratic Uncertainty," set the tone reflections on Freedom of Assembly, Freedom of Association, Freedom of Expression, and Freedom of the Media & Access to Information, at a time when all four are being tested.

Organized by the Civic Freedoms Forum , in partnership with Article19, KHRC, InformAction, PEN Kenya , and others, the summit was a reminder that protecting civic space isn't abstract it's the everyday work of showing up, speaking up, and standing with each other.
