Early this morning, Our Enforcement Team conducted a successful demolition of structures that had encroached on a road reserve behind Oasis Hotel, located near Didows Petrol Station within Mandera Town.
The operation was carried out to restore the road reserve and ensure that the corridor remains available for essential public services such as electricity lines, sewerage systems, water connection and other critical infrastructure that serve the community.
We urge all residents, developers and business owners to strictly observe construction procedures and Municipal regulations to avoid encroaching on road reserves and other public utility spaces.
Mandera Municipality remains committed to ensuring proper urban planning, safety and the protection of public infrastructure for the benefit of all residents.

Today was a landmark day at the Mandera Municipality Headquarters as we hosted a high-level delegation from the National Bank of Kenya (NBK) and its largest shareholder, Access Bank. The consultative meeting, led by our Municipal Manager and attended by all HODs and Section Heads, was a testament to the power of strategic institutional partnerships.

We were particularly honored to welcome Mr. George Odhiambo, Managing Director of NBK, and Mr. Ralph Opara, Country Managing Director of Access Bank Kenya and their technical heads. Their visit served as a vital feedback session, recognizing Mandera Municipality not just as a loyal customer but as a primary stakeholder in the region's economic and environmental growth.

During the discussions, our Manager expressed sincere gratitude to the bank for standing with us throughout our journey. A key highlight was the bank’s unwavering support in ensuring timely salary payments for our dedicated "Green Army." This reliable partnership was a cornerstone in the Municipality recently winning a prestigious award for our environmental efforts. From supporting our greening initiatives of planting trees to partnering with us on key calendar events, NBK have proven to be more than just financial institutions—they are partners in our progress.

The meeting concluded with a mutual consensus to "do more together." Moving forward, we are excited to collaborate on expanded Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects, including the construction of Bodaboda shades and other community-driven infrastructure.

We thank the leadership of NBK for their visit and look forward to a future of shared transformation and continued service excellence for the people of Mandera.

A joint team from the Public Health and Trade Departments, led by the HOD Community Service and Compliance, conducted an inspection at a local distributor store.

During the exercise, the team seized 3,445 bottles of expired products from The Coca-Cola Company, where nearly half of the stock was found to be expired. In the interest of public safety, the premises have been closed and the seized items will be destroyed tomorrow at the owner’s cost.

We strongly urge all business operators to ensure that no expired products are sold to the public, as this poses a serious risk to the health and safety of our community.

Our inspection teams will continue carrying out regular compliance checks across all businesses to safeguard public health and uphold standards.

Let us work together to protect our community.
