Prevention of Armed Robberies and Thefts in Businesses in Nairobi, Kenya.

Armed Robbery and Theft remain significant security concerns for businesses in Nairobi in recent times, particularly in commercial centres, retail shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, hotels, restaurants, petrol stations, and financial service outlets.

Recent incidents have shown that criminals often target businesses handling cash, operating late into the night, or with weak security measures.

Protective and Safety Association of Kenya (PROSAK) highlights the importance of surveillance, intelligence gathering, and public reporting in responding to such crimes.

Key Prevention Measures..

1. Strengthen Physical Security.

-Install high-quality CCTV cameras covering entrances, exits, cash handling areas, parking lots, and surrounding streets.
-Install burglar alarms and silent panic alarms linked to a security company or police response.
-Use reinforced doors, security grills, and quality locks.
-Ensure adequate lighting around the premises, especially at entrances and parking areas.
-Trim trees and shrubs that may provide hiding places for criminals.

2. Improve Cash Management

-Keep minimal cash in tills and cash registers.
-Deposit excess cash regularly instead of storing it on-site.
-Use time-delay or drop safes that employees cannot easily open.
-Vary bank deposit times and routes to reduce predictability.
-Avoid counting money where customers or passers-by can observe.

3. Employee Training.

-Employees should receive regular security training covering:
-Identification of suspicious behaviour.
-Procedures for opening and closing the business.
-Emergency response during a robbery or other incidents.
-Use of Panic Alarms.
-Preservation of crime scenes after a security incident.
-Employees should understand that protecting life is always more important than protecting money or property.

4. Security Access Control..

-Restrict access to staff-only areas.
-Require identification for suppliers and contractors.
-Keep rear entrances locked when not in use.
-Monitor deliveries carefully.
-Control visitor movement within the premises at all costs.

5. Surveillance and Monitoring.

-Report suspicious individuals immediately to Police and have emergency numbers of Police Stations around them..

What Employees Should Do During a Robbery..

If confronted by armed robbers:

-Remain calm.
-Avoid sudden movements.
-Do not resist unless there is no safe alternative.
-Comply with instructions where possible to reduce the risk of violence.
-Observe details such as clothing, height, tattoos, accents, vehicles, and direction of escape without putting yourself at additional risk.
-Activate a silent alarm only if it can be done safely.

Immediately after the offenders leave:
-Lock the premises if safe to do so.

ADVISORY TO PARENTS: RECEIVING STUDENTS BACK HOME DURING SCHOOL CLOSURES

Recent events in our schools have led to the temporary closure of some institutions, with students being sent home due to unrest or precautionary measures.

As parents and guardians, this moment is critical. How we receive and engage our children during this period will significantly influence their behaviour, mindset, and future decisions.

We therefore offer the following guidance:

1. Receive Your Child Calmly and Without Immediate Judgment

Avoid anger, accusations, or harsh reactions at first contact.

- Create a safe space for your child to settle
- Allow them to speak and share their experience
- Listen more before responding

Goal: Build trust so that your child opens up honestly

2. Seek to Understand, Not Just to React

Find out:

- What exactly happened
- What role (if any) your child played
- What emotions they experienced (anger, fear, frustration, peer pressure)

Avoid rushing to conclusions based on rumours or partial information.

Current Situation in Nanyuki Over Ebola Facility in Laikipia.

Hundreds of residents of Nanyuki staged protests on Monday, June 1, to oppose the government's plan to construct an Ebola virus quarantine facility in the area, citing fears over possible health risks and the safety of the local community.The demonstrations attracted large crowds, with residents marching through parts of the town carrying placards and leaves while chanting slogans against the proposed project.Protesters argued that establishing the facility in Nanyuki could expose residents to unnecessary risks and increase fears of a possible Ebola outbreak.

Some demonstrators blocked sections of major roads as they continued to voice their opposition to the plan.They insisted that the quarantine facility should not be built in the area and called on the government to reconsider the project.The protests caused disruptions in movement within parts of the town as hundreds of residents gathered to participate.Police later engaged some protesters in running battles as they attempted to restore order and clear affected roads.The situation remained tense for some time before security officers managed to regain control in several areas.The protests come amid growing debate over the proposed United States-backed quarantine facility planned for the Nanyuki airbase.Reports indicate that the facility would be managed by the Kenya Defence Forces and would host US citizens who may have been exposed to the Ebola virus.

The reports have triggered concern among local residents, leaders and human rights groups, many of whom have questioned the decision to establish the facility in the region.The matter is also before the courts. The High Court recently issued conservatory orders temporarily stopping the planned construction until a case challenging the project is heard and determined.Despite the court orders, the Ministry of Health has maintained that the project remains important and has indicated that it will challenge the decision that suspended the construction.The developments come as East Africa remains alert following Ebola outbreaks reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.

While Kenya has heightened surveillance measures, no Ebola case has been confirmed in the country.

EXPOSE ON THE UTUMISHI GIRLS ACADEMY TRAGEDY

HOMOSEXUAL DEMONS AT UTUMISHI ACADEMY: A GANG OF LE****NS ATTACKED AND BURNT VICTIMS FOR REJECTING THEM

Teachers at Utumishi Girls Academy now claim that the arson attack at the school was caused by rival le***an gangs within the institution. Lesbianism at the school is not only rampant but is largely tolerated and known to the Board of Management (BOM) and the Principal.

Teachers speaking to this writer claim that girls in the school often date and marry each other in the dormitories, with the older girls acting as men while the younger girls in lower grades are forced into unnatural acts.

Any teacher who has taught in any of our Kenyan girls-only boarding schools knows that these vices exist, and it seems as though evil spirits enter the girls, combined with hysteria.

CCTV footage shows several girls arranging mattresses before setting them on fire, which ultimately consumed the other girls. A student survivor who was trapped inside a cubicle witnessed the incident and later identified the suspects, stating they were girls allegedly on a revenge mission after being jilted.

All teachers at Utumishi Academy are aware of these happenings. The principal has on numerous occasions punished le***ans in the school, but the situation had spiraled out of her control.
Investigators say the victims could have escaped had the door not been locked from the outside by the attackers. The invading girls locked the door from the outside, then brutally and inhumanly set the dormitory ablaze, thereby committing mass murder. Only a demon-possessed person could do what those girls did to their colleagues.
It will be a death sentence for the girls who committed this crime if the prosecution proves the case against the eight girls who are now in custody.

UPDATE: The DCI says a major breakthrough has been made in the Utumishi Girls fire tragedy that claimed 16 lives.

▪️ Forensic analysis of CCTV footage has allegedly identified 7 students linked to the arson incident.

▪️ Of the 8 suspects previously arrested, 6 have now been positively identified through the footage.

▪️ A seventh identified student had earlier been released to her parents and is now being sought by investigators.

▪️ Post-mortem examinations confirmed all 16 students died from severe burns.

▪️ DNA samples were collected from families to facilitate formal identification due to the extent of the burns.

The case now moves into a critical phase as investigators shift from determining the cause of the fire to establishing individual criminal responsibility.

This remains one of the deadliest school tragedies in recent Kenyan history.

SECURITY Breaches AROUND THE C-in-C FORCE MAJOR SHAKE-UP OF PRESIDENTIAL ES**RT UNIT

A series of security breaches targeting President William Ruto has culminated in a major reorganization of the Presidential Es**rt Unit, the elite formation responsible for protecting the Head of State.

The latest incident occurred on 24th May 2026 in Ganze, Kilifi County, during a thanksgiving event where the President was addressing members of the public. Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja described the breach as "unacceptable and a matter of the gravest national concern," announcing an immediate investigation and changes to the President's security detail.

Following that, Deputy Inspector General Eliud K. Lagat issued an internal memo outlining sweeping changes to the PEU command structure.

COMMAND OVERHAUL

Noah Kirwa Maiyo, an Assistant Inspector General, has taken command responsibility and been transferred from his position as Commandant of the Presidential Es**rt Unit to police headquarters at Vigilance House. Maiyo had led the PEU since July 2024, when he took over from William Yiampoy.

A Commandant lasting less than a few years in this role is highly unusual and speaks to the severity of the breaches that occurred on his watch.

Juda Mathews Gwiyo, the Deputy Commandant, has been directed to proceed on leave pending retirement, effectively ending his career following the security lapse.

Taking over the helm is William Sawe, transferred from Commanding Officer of the Recce Company of the GSU to Commandant of the PEU. Sawe will be promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General.

George Kirera has been promoted from Staffing Officer Personnel at the PEU to Deputy Commandant, filling Gwiyo's vacancy.

Josphat Sirma has been elevated from Deputy Commanding Officer to Commanding Officer of the Recce Sub-Unit, taking over Sawe's former position.

A PATTERN OF BREACHES

The Ganze incident was not isolated. Since mid-2024, President Ruto's security has been tested repeatedly.

In February 2025, a man rushed toward the President during a public address in Wajir County before being restrained. In May 2025, a shoe was hurled at President Ruto during a rally in Migori County, striking him on the left arm. Three suspects were arrested, and security agencies described the attack as possibly politically motivated and premeditated.

On 28th April 2026, during a development tour in Soweto, Lang'ata, an unidentified person threw what appeared to be a bottle from behind President Ruto. His security team surrounded him but failed to locate the suspect.

Other significant breaches included the October 2025 security lapses during the arrival of Raila Odinga's remains at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Kasarani Stadium, where motorcyclists breached the airport perimeter and chaos erupted at a stadium where the President was present.

What is striking about these breaches is the pattern of failure. In Wajir, a man got too close. In Migori, a projectile made physical contact with the President. In Lang'ata, an object was thrown from a blind spot. Each incident represents a different type of breach — physical approach, projectile attack, blind spot infiltration. The Ganze incident was the final straw after a series of warnings.

WHAT THE CHANGES MEAN

Maiyo's transfer ends a tenure that began in July 2024. He had served as head of operations at the PEU for two years before his appointment as Commandant and worked at the Office of the Deputy President for a decade. With over thirty years in VIP protection, he has guarded four administrations, beginning his close protection career in 1988 with President Daniel arap Moi.

His replacement, William Sawe, now assumes the rank of Assistant Inspector General as Commandant PEU. Sawe previously commanded the Recce Sub-Unit, an elite counter-terrorism and special operations formation within the GSU.

The 2027 election is approximately eighteen months away. That campaign season will see President Ruto in more crowded, uncontrolled environments than at any time since he took office. Sawe has a narrow window to rebuild, retrain, and reset before the intensity ratchets up.

Please remain extra vigilant and closely monitor school-going children following the increasing cases of children reportedly disappearing during school commute hours.
Most incidents are being reported early in the morning as children go to school and in the evening while returning home. There are also reports of strangers, mostly men in vehicles, approaching children and pretending to assist them by offering lifts.
Parents and guardians are advised to take the following precautions:

✅ Warn children never to accept lifts, gifts, money, or help from strangers.

✅ Encourage children to walk in groups whenever possible.

✅ Ensure children use safe and familiar routes to and from school.

✅ Monitor departure and arrival times and follow up immediately in case of delays.

✅ Teach children to report any suspicious person, vehicle, or activity to teachers, parents, police, or trusted adults.

ARREST OF ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE SUSPECTS

A team of detectives from the DCI headquarters’ Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) and the Operation Action Team (OAT) has apprehended three individuals infamous for a string of robberies in Nairobi and its surrounding areas.

In one incident on January 23, 2026, a Chinese national reported a harrowing experience where she fell victim to a robbery while driving along Kyang’ombe old Mombasa Road. She was flagged down by a dark grey car, Reg No. KDT 317F, occupied by two men clad in what appeared to be traffic police uniforms.

Under the guise of authority, they demanded her driving license. As she handed it over, the assailants seized the opportunity, jumped into her vehicle, and made off with Sh2,140,000 in cash, money she had just withdrawn from both the DTB Bank Mombasa Road branch and the Standard Chartered Bank Sameer branch.

In another incident on March 17, 2026, a complainant visited Equity Bank Utawala Branch to withdraw Sh4.2 million to fulfil an order for steel near Gateway Mall along Mombasa Road.

While en route, he was intercepted by a gang of four men dressed in blue police uniforms and reflector jackets, two of whom brandished pistols.

They falsely accused him of trafficking narcotic drugs, handcuffed him, and forced him into their vehicle, hooding him before robbing him of the Sh4.2 million hidden in a bag in his car, dumping him in the Karen.

Another complainant recounted a terrifying encounter after being entrusted with Sh1,400,000 by her boss at KCB Bank, located along Mombasa Road in the Airtel building, for payment to her colleagues. She took a motorcycle, heading towards the Sayan Business Park.

Upon reaching Cabanas Interchange, they were ambushed by four men in a grey Mazda CX-5, registration number KDQ 170T, who claimed to be police officers.

After forcing them to get off the motorcycle and into their vehicle, the assailants roughed them up, blindfolded them, and stole the Sh1.4 million along with their mobile phones, later discarding them near the modern Komarock Hospital in Utawala.

Driven by the urgency to bring these criminals to justice, detectives launched a thorough investigation. Forensic evidence led them to the three suspects: Boniface Kilonzo Mwaniki, apprehended along Lusaka Road; Josphat Musili, arrested at Dandora Phase IV; and Muia Mutune, arrested at Kalawa Shopping Centre in Makueni County.

Upon their arrest, authorities recovered their getaway vehicle, a Mazda CX-5, registration number KDW 016H, along with a military jungle hat and three reflector jackets. It has become clear that these suspects are part of a larger, more organised gang that frequently alters the number plates of their escape vehicle to evade arrest.

The suspects remain in custody, undergoing processing pending arraignment. Meanwhile, detectives are hot on the trail, pursuing additional leads to identify and apprehend more members of this group still at large.
