Yesterday, 21st April 2026, the Municipal Board held a productive engagement meeting with the leadership and management of Mabati Rolling Mills.

On 21st April, yesterday (Tuesday), Mariakani Municipality officially launched a four-day Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) aimed at strengthening revenue collection across the municipality.
The initiative focuses on supporting business owners to register their enterprises and acquire Single Business Permits (SBP), promoting compliance and enhancing service delivery.
This exercise is being conducted across three key towns—Mariakani, Kaloleni, and Mazeras—and will run until the 24th of this month.

Earlier today, Mariakani Municipality took a bold step in enhancing cleanliness and environmental conservation within our town. 🌿🧹
The clean-up exercise kicked off from Mariakani Dairy heading towards Mariakani Secondary School, covering key sections including the Shalmer area and the street leading to the school.
The activity involved:
✔️ Clearing small dumping sites
✔️ Cutting unwanted grass in overgrown areas
✔️ General environmental beautification
We are proud to note that some local residents were impressed by the initiative and willingly joined the exercise — a true demonstration of community partnership and shared responsibility. Together, we made significant progress in restoring the cleanliness and appeal of our town.
Mariakani is our home, and keeping it clean is everyone’s responsibility. Let’s continue working together to maintain a healthy, safe, and attractive environment for all.

Earlier to day, Mariakani Municipality proudly partnered with United For Prosperity CBO in the impactful 40KM Walk from Kaloleni to Kilifi Town, held from 26th – 28th February 2026.
Themed: “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Education," the 3-day walk aimed at raising funds for the construction of a rehabilitation center and creating awareness on the dangers of drug abuse in our communities.
The walk was officially flagged off by the CEC for Gender, Culture and Social Services, Dr. Ruth Dama, underscoring the County Government’s commitment to social development and youth empowerment.
We were later joined by our Deputy Governor, Florah Mbetsa Chibule, whose presence greatly inspired participants. She made a remarkable positive impact through her encouraging message and clearly demonstrated her readiness to support initiatives focused on combating drug abuse and promoting education across our communities.
The walk brought together community members, leaders, youth groups, and partners in a strong show of unity and shared responsibility. This collaboration marks a significant milestone as we continue working towards a healthier, empowered, and drug-free society.

Today, Mariakani Municipality, in partnership with Rabai Voices and Rabai CSOs, successfully conducted a community cleaning exercise in Mazeras.
The cleaning activity covered key areas including Makondeni and Sokoni area with active participation from local youths and Mariakani Municipality cleaning staff, showcasing strong community collaboration towards environmental cleanliness.

The Mariakani Municipality Fire Brigade team successfully conducted a comprehensive fire safety inspection at Mabati Rolling Mills Company on 30th Jan 2026.
Mabati Rolling Mills, a key company within Mariakani Municipality, plays a significant role in contributing to the local community. In recognition of the importance of safety, the inspection was conducted jointly by the Mariakani Municipality Fire Brigade, accompanied by the Kilifi Municipality Fire Brigade.
The exercise was led by Lucy Hanjari and Erick Ndune from the Mariakani Municipality Fire Brigade team. The inspection aimed to enhance fire preparedness, ensure compliance with safety standards, and promote a strong culture of safety within the industrial sector.

The municipality marked a major milestone today as several key county functions were officially transferred to its administration. This move is part of a wider government effort to decentralize services and improve efficiency, accountability, and service delivery.

A thorough handover was conducted, including detailed staff verification to ensure proper alignment of roles and a smooth, transparent transition.

Water, Environment, and Solid Waste Management
Lands, Energy, Physical Planning, and Urban Development and
Fire Services
This shift is expected to enhance local service delivery, speed up response times, and streamline daily operations for residents.

Mariakani Municipality today conducted a comprehensive clean-up exercise aimed at enhancing sanitation and promoting environmental health across the town.

The exercise began at Mabatini, opposite KCB Bank, where several illegal dumping sites had been identified. These unauthorized waste disposal areas were thoroughly cleared, and members of the public were warned against disposing of litter in prohibited zones.

The clean-up operation proceeded through Taifa Depot and along Makaburini Street, culminating at the designated municipal dumping site. In addition to clearing waste, the activity served as a public awareness campaign, sensitizing residents on the importance of responsible waste management.

The presence of Madam Zena Ali Medama, Deputy Municipal Manager, gave a motivational boost to the teams on the ground. Her involvement demonstrated the leadership’s commitment to a cleaner Mariakani. The exercise was effectively coordinated by Ms. Mildren Akoth, the Municipal Environment Officer, who ensured smooth operations and full coverage of targeted areas.
The public was reminded to continue playing their part by disposing of waste properly and keeping the environment clean and safe for all.

Earlier To day Mariakani Municipality officially handed over a development proposal to Mombasa Cement. The proposal, prepared by the Municipal Manager, Madam Teclar Dadu, was received by Mr. Justine Nyanga, Human Resource Manager, and Mr. Evans Mwigai, Assistant HR Manager, on behalf of the company.

The proposal was formally presented by our board members, Dr. Gollo and Mr. Sammy Akilimali, and witnessed by our Administrative Officer, Madam Mary.

A key highlight of the proposal is the construction of a perimeter wall around the Municipality’s main office—an initiative aimed at enhancing security and creating a more conducive working environment.

We appreciate Mombasa Cement’s continued support and look forward to a fruitful partnership in advancing the development of Mariakani.

Earlier today, Mariakani Municipality carried out a clean-up exercise at Mariakani Town.

The exercise began behind Komesha Bar, where two illegal dumping sites had been identified. Both sites were cleared, and traders were warned against disposing of waste in prohibited areas.

The team then moved to Trans Building area, which hosts several beauty salons and barbershops. Traders were sensitized on the importance of maintaining a clean environment and advised to place their waste in sacks, which will later be collected by municipal staff for proper disposal.

The exercise concluded at the Highrise Market area. The team was led by Ms. Mildren Akoth, the Municipal Environmental Officer.

Consultative Meeting with Kaloleni Transport Saccos

Today, the Municipal Manager, Madam Techler Dadu, together with the county Enforcement Director Mr. Mwaringa, Sub-County Administrator Mr. Juma, Kaloleni Ward MCA Mr. Birya, and the National Security team led by the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), held a consultative meeting with representatives from the Kaloleni Transport Saccos.

The meeting focused on key issues affecting public transport operations in the area. These included the illegal collection of fees by touts, matatus picking up and dropping off passengers at unauthorized stages, the refusal by some matatus to operate from the designated bus park, operation of unauthorized routes, and the increasing number of private vehicles functioning as PSVs.

Following a detailed discussion, it was agreed that all PSV operators must comply with the laws regulating their operations and respect the authority of the existing Bus Park Committee. The Saccos collectively committed to working together to streamline their operations at the bus park, with the aim of restoring order and improving transport services within the town.

The Municipality reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring efficient and orderly transport operations as well as effective traffic control, in line with its core mandate.
