Abdifatah Shukri Alio has been sworn in as a new nominated member of the County Assembly of Marsabit.
He joins the Assembly on Jubilee Party ticket as a youth representative.
His swearing follows the IEBC gazette notice dated 26 August 2025.

MONDAY 23rd June 2025: The Committee on Budget and Appropriations, Finance, and Economic Planning is currently reviewing the public participation report and sectoral committee reports on the Marsabit County Budget Estimates for the Financial Year 2025/2026.

The Committee will later table its report for debate and approval in accordance with the statutory timelines governing the county budget process.

Wednesday, 18th June 2025 — The Sectoral Committee on Budget and Appropriation, Finance, and Economic Planning, chaired by Hon. Daud Tamasot, held a meeting with the Departments of Trade, Tourism, Industry and Cooperative Development; Roads, Transport and Public Works; and Health Services to review the progress of key development projects.

These include the County Aggregated Industrial Park (FY 2023/24), the upgrading of Moyale Town roads to bitumen standard (FY 2018/19), the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), Marsabit and the proposed Sololo Level 4 Hospital (FY 2018/19). The meeting followed a recent inspection visit by the Committee to assess the status of these projects on the ground.

The departmental representatives, led by Mr. Jeremmy Ledany (CECM, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Cooperative Development), Mr. Guyo Guracha (CECM, Roads, Transport and Public Works), and Dr. Arero Halkano, (CO, Health Services) were questioned on the utilization of allocated budgets, current project statuses, implementation challenges, and causes of delays.

The Committee urged the departments to fast-track implementation to realize the intended development outcomes. It also reaffirmed its commitment to its oversight mandate and to ensuring effective service delivery for the people of Marsabit County.

A comprehensive report on the findings will be compiled by the Committee and tabled for debate in the County Assembly.

THURSDAY 5th JUNE, 2025. The County Assembly of Marsabit, through the Budget and Appropriations Committee, conducted public participation forums on the Marsabit County Annual Budget Estimates for the Financial Year 2025/2026.

The forums were held at Maikona and Uran Ward, in line with the constitutional requirement for public involvement in the budget-making process.

The sessions were chaired by the Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, Hon. Daud Tamasot Arakhole, Member of County Assembly for Korr/Ngurunit Ward who was accompanied by other committee members.

The County Assembly’s Lands, Energy, and Urban Development Committee, chaired by Hon. Jack Elisha (MCA – Marsabit Central) has concluded the vetting of nominees for the position of Members of the Moyale Municipality Board.

The Committee will now retreat to compile its report, which will subsequently be tabled and debated on the floor of the House.

Earlier today, Hon. Hassan Marsa, Hon. Suleiman Khalif, and Mr. Denge Tullu appeared before the Committee as part of the vetting process.

THE HOUSE APPROVES GOVERNOR MOHAMUD ALI'S NOMINEES TO THE MARSABIT COUNTY PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD SELECTION PANEL

The County Assembly of Marsabit has approved all the nominees submitted by Governor Mohamud Ali to serve on the selection panel of the Marsabit County Public Service Board.

While moving the motion to approve the nominees, Hon. Leakono Bernard, Majority Leader and a member of the Vetting and Appointment Committee noted that the committee conducted a rigorous vetting process and found all five nominees qualified for the task.
The House therefore unanimously adopted the Committee’s report and approved the following individuals:
• David Dida Wario – Chairperson
• Sabdio Okile Galgallo – Private Sector Representative
• John Galimogle – ICPAK Representative
• Abdilatif Jarso – Advocate
• Mariam Challa – Workers Association Representative

This approval marks a significant step towards constituting a new Marsabit County Public Service Board since the term of the current members is coming to an end in June 2025.
