KWS TAKES CONSERVATION AND TOURISM CLOSER TO THE PEOPLE OF THARAKA NITHI

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) joined various Government agencies at the Citizen Engagement Forum held on 16th October 2026 at Kathwana Stadium, Tharaka Nithi County, reaffirming its commitment to citizen-centred service delivery, public participation and inclusive national development.

The engagement provided an important platform for KWS to connect with the local community, raise awareness on wildlife conservation, promote sustainable tourism opportunities and strengthen collaboration between communities and the Government in safeguarding Kenya’s natural heritage.

Through public education and community engagement, KWS continues to champion peaceful human-wildlife coexistence, wildlife utilisation, responsible environmental stewardship and the recognition of wildlife conservation as a shared national responsibility. The Service also seeks to highlight the tourism and livelihood opportunities associated with Kenya’s rich wildlife heritage.

By bringing Government services closer to citizens, the forum underscored the importance of partnerships, community participation and collective action in advancing sustainable development.

Conservation is a shared responsibility. Together, we can protect our wildlife, empower communities and secure Kenya’s natural heritage for generations to come.

CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK – THE EXTRA MILE

Today, as we celebrate Customer Service Week under the theme “ *The Extra Mile* ,” the Eastern Conservation Area took time to reflect on what it means to deliver exceptional customer service.

The Senior Assistant Director, Eastern Conservation Area, shared valuable insights with staff on who a customer is, how we should treat our customers, and the importance of creating positive and memorable experiences. He also shared personal experiences and practical lessons on the value of going beyond the ordinary.
The celebration was crowned with a cake cutting ceremony, with staff from all departments coming together to share the moment.

The message to the entire region is simple and powerful: Let us always go the extra mile serve with a smile, listen with empathy, respond with professionalism, and give our customers an experience worth remembering.
