The Battle For The Soul 2

1 Peter 2:9–10 "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Regarding our relationship with God, we are:

a chosen people/race

a royal priesthood

a holy nation

God’s possession

For WHAT PURPOSE?

1 Peter 2:9 “… so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

We acknowledged that all of us are called to evangelize. To tell others about the work of God in our lives and the good news of redemption through faith in Jesus.

The word evangelize scares most people in the church. However, outside the walls of the church it has been embraced. When Steve Jobs was running Apple they had a job title for their employees, “Apple Evangelist”. Someone who believes in the product and wants to tell others about it.

I am sure that ALL of us are evangelists for certain thing, right?

The Battle For The Soul 1

Beloved,

Do you know what the most precious treasure in the world is? YOU. You are the most precious treasure in the world. Do you realize that? Do you know why? Because God wants you.You know how special it is to be wanted by someone? A mom or dad or husband or wife? It makes you feel so treasured inside, doesn’t it? Know this: God wants you more than anything in the world. Jesus proved that when He died for you on the cross. You are the most precious treasure in the world, because God wants you!

But it’s not just God. Satan wants you too. Of course, Satan does not love you. Satan does not treasure you like God treasures you. But Satan wants you too. The devil knows how precious you are to God, and he wants nothing more than to hurt God by hurting you. The devil is not content to let God have you. So, every day, Satan fights as hard as he can to pull you away from Jesus. You are so valuable that both God and Satan want your soul. There is a battle for your soul!

MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAST THOU FORSAKEN ME? 2

We perceive God as distant for a reason. Often, we do so because of the pain we are enduring, such as the loss of a loved one, an illness, a tragedy, or a hardship. Anger and sorrow can well up inside of us, making us question why the Lord allowed the events to happen, which in turn, places distance between us and Him.

Or we could be struggling with a sin. Christ was and is sinless, but the Father turned away because the Son bore the Sins of Us All, enduring the punishment we deserved. We will never have to experience the pain of separation that our Saviour did on the cross if we have trusted in Him for salvation. However, the presence of sin in our lives can make us push the Lord away from us. We do what Adam and Eve did in the garden by hiding ourselves from Him. But even then, God pursued them just as He does when we choose to do wrong. Jesus died on the cross while we were still sinners, demonstrating His great love (Romans 5:8). We do not have to question whether God cares when we think He has turned away.

We cannot divorce our faith from our feelings, for God created us with emotions. We can, however, recognize that our faith is much more than what we feel or see. Those seasons of spiritual dryness may leave us weary and wondering where the Lord is, but He remains as close as a friend; yes, closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). For our Lord promised that He would be with us always. That remains true whether we feel Him or not.

MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAST THOU FORSAKEN ME? 1

Beloved ,

There are seasons when God feels as close as a friend. The days shimmer with excitement as we learn more about our Lord and lean into His love. Every prayer, moment in Scripture, and praise sung in worship is filled with an intense feeling of God’s presence.

Yet as grateful as we should be for those times in life, other seasons come–ones that are not as welcome. Those long spells in a spiritual desert where talking to the Lord feels as hard as picking up our weary feet and reading the Bible seems like a chore. In those moments, there is no cheerful sparkle that marks our days. Rather, we feel as if God is far away. The Friend who we felt by our side for so long now seems like a stranger.

In Scripture, we find examples of this feeling, such as when the psalmist described God as standing far off from him (Psalm 10:1). Job and Jeremiah also felt as if the Lord had left them in their suffering (Job 30:20; Lamentations 3:8). And the greatest example of feeling cut off from the presence of God was when Jesus bore the sins of humankind and the Father turned away from Him. He cried out the words of a psalm: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? “Psalm 22:1, Matthew 27:46. To feel as if God is far away is something that we all experience at some point in life.

The Hard Truth About Parenting / Priorities.

Beloved ,

This conversation gives an honest look at Christian parenting and the challenge of keeping our priorities in the right order. It asks a simple but important question: do our lives actually reflect what we say matters most? It’s easy for parenting to become centered around our kids’ activities, sports, achievements, and schedules. Without realizing it, those things can take the place of spiritual formation. The biblical order is clear: God first, then marriage, then children. When that order gets flipped, the foundation of the family starts to feel unstable.

This message invites parents to take an honest look at their calen -dars, choices, and connections with their kids. Are we making church optional while practices are not? Are we celebrating perfor -mance more than character?

The good news is that grace gives us room to grow. We won’t parent perfectly, but we can realign our families with God’s priorities and help our children learn to hear His voice for themselves.

Forks in the Road

Beloved ,

What does it look like to parent with intention rather than just instinct? This message takes us on a journey through one of the most challenging / consequential callings we will ever face: raising the next generation with purpose and faith. Drawing on the story of Moses in Hebrews 11, where the faith of his parents transferred into his life even after they were separated, we are reminded that godly parenting leaves a mark that outlasts the moments we can see. The central challenge placed before us is a fork in the road that every family will face: are we building a Christ-centered home or a child-centered one? There is a meaningful difference between putting Christ first and putting Christ at the center of everything. When Christ is truly the center, every decision, every priority, and every boundary flows from that core conviction. We are pushed to examine whether our homes reflect that reality or whether, somewhere along the way, the comfort and happiness of our children quietly moved to the middle. This is not about perfection. It is about having a map before we reach the intersection.

Praying Through the Lord's Prayer

Beloved ,

This conversation takes us on a transformative journey through the Lord's Prayer, revealing it not as a mere recitation but as a pow -erful framework for deepening our relationship with God. We discover that prayer begins with desire—that longing we feel in desperate moments when we realize we need more of God. This desire must then transform into discipline, creating sacred appoint -ments with the Divine through consistent time and place. But the beautiful promise is that discipline ultimately leads to delight, where we begin witnessing tangible answers and experiencing God's hand moving in our lives. The six-part structure of the Lord's Prayer becomes our roadmap: starting with hallowing God's name through worship, expanding our vision for His kingdom and will acknowledging His provision, clea -nsing our hearts through forgive- ness, putting on spiritual armour against darkness, and ending in victorious praise. What makes this approach so powerful is how it shifts our perspective from self-c- entered petition to God-centered transformation. We learn that when we begin by remembering who God is—our Provider, Healer, Peace, and Righteousness—we approach our needs differently. The practice of drawing imaginary circles, starting with ourselves and expanding outward to family, church, city, and nation, teaches us that prayer isn't just about our immediate concerns but about participating in God's redemptive work throughout the world. This disciplined approach to prayer doesn't create rigid routine but rather Opens space for the Holy Spirit to lead us into fresh encounters each day.
