Friends, elections are around the corner. We may not all agree on who our preferred candidates are.But let us begin to choose tolerance as early as now. Looking at the events of the recent past, i want to reiterate that ,It is possible to differ honorably with each other without demonizing each other over our preferences.Case in point, we do not agree with what the government is doing or how they are handling the person of the Deputy President.
Dehumanizing, demonizing and witch-hunting him simply because someone doesn't agree with his model or philosophy of politics. It seems that most of the intentions and accussations arrayed against him(even if they had any morsel of truth, they seem for the most part to be an attempt at mudsling him and leave him with egg on the face.
Unless you can prove in a court of law that Raila, Mudavadi, Kalonzo, Ruto, Kivutha kibwana, Alfred Mutua, Mukhisa Kituyi or any other presidential aspirants is a thief, you have no business calling him one.
My point is, do not seek to gain political expediency for yourself or your candidate by spiting others and assasinating their character. These are all grown up boys.Let them present their ideals, and let them all come to the ballot and let us peacefully and honorably choose whomever we feel strongly to be our prefered one.Remember even Samuel the prophet had a go at his choice and had his say in the home of Jesse.Yet the LORD who sees the heart and what none of us can see about anyone had His way.So above all, brethren, let me call us to pray with genuine hearts and open minds for the coming elections.Even those of us who have their will, and their bets already set on someone-bless your hearts-you can still follow Christ in His prayer of surrender at Gethsemane and still pray-Father I will that you would grant so and so to be our ruler, yet not my will, but your will be done.If all of us can gather such guts in prayer and refrain from forcing the Hand of God, then I suppose no matter the outcome, we will still be able to live peaceably with each other. After all, in a democracy, all votes cannot go in the same ballot, but we must have the faith that "while the lot is cast in the ballot, its decision/verdict comes from the Lord"...The Bible has a place for varied opinions.Hence, may we respectifully be guided by the same spirit yet knowing that the Kingdoms of this world belong to the Lord, and He sets over them whomever he wills...Let us devote ourselves to prayer, and continue in the same with thanksgiving.
