We were delighted to welcome H.E. Hon. Francis Thoya, Deputy Governor of Mombasa County, to the CWWDA stand at the 2026 Mombasa International ASK Show.
His visit provided an opportunity to engage on water security, sustainable water infrastructure and the need for stronger collaboration in addressing the Coast Region’s growing water needs.
From bulk water supply and climate-smart infrastructure to resilient community water solutions, CWWDA continues to play a critical role in supporting sustainable development and improving access to water across the Coast.
The visit underscored the importance of continued collaboration between the Agency and the County Government in advancing water security and resilient water infrastructure for Mombasa and the wider Coast Region. πŸ’§πŸ€

The Mwache Dam Project Management Unit led by Dam Engineer Eng. Kiprotich Tireito hosted a World Bank Implementation Support Mission led by Task Team Leader Mr. Pieter Waalewijn. The mission commenced with a site inspection of key project components including the Main Dam, Fulugani Primary School, Lower Check Dam and Kasemeni Police Post.
The visit focused on assessing the progress of ongoing works reviewing critical implementation issues and identifying areas requiring attention as the project approaches completion. The mission brought together representatives from CWWDA, National Treasury, Water Resources Authority WomanKind Kenya, PMU supervising engineers, Kwale County Government, the contractor and other stakeholders.
Overall the World Bank mission is intended to provide technical oversight, monitor project progress and support the successful and timely completion of the Mwache Dam Project.
