The public participation exercise on the identification and prioritization of development projects for the 2026/2027 Financial Year officially concluded today across all five wards of Mwatate Constituency.

In Rong'e Ward, the forums were held at Ndile, Fighinyi, Msau, and Mselia, where residents identified key priority projects aimed at improving education and public service delivery. Among the leading proposals were the construction of additional classrooms, administration blocks, school fencing, science and computer laboratories, modern sanitation facilities, and the upgrading of selected day secondary schools through the construction of boarding facilities.

To strengthen security and government service delivery, residents also proposed the construction of administrative offices and police stations in strategic areas within the ward.

Speaking during the exercise, NG-CDF Mwatate Committee Chairperson Ernest Kazonga commended residents for turning up in numbers and actively contributing to the discussions. He noted that the views collected will guide the Fund in implementing projects that are in line with the development priorities of the people.

The forums were attended by National Government Administration Officers, including Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs, alongside officials from NG-CDF Mwatate and the Office of the Member of Parliament.

The public participation exercise on the identification and prioritization of development projects for the 2026/2027 Financial Year has entered its fifth day today. The National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) Mwatate is leading these important forums in Mwatate Ward, covering Singila, Mwatunge, and Landi, before concluding the exercise in Langatenyi, Rong’e Ward.

Yesterday, residents of Wusi Kishamba Ward had the opportunity to present their views and proposals on the development projects they consider most critical to their communities. Top priorities included improving public school infrastructure and constructing administrative offices to enhance service delivery.

The ongoing public participation exercise reflects NG-CDF Mwatate's commitment to ensuring that every resident has a voice in shaping the constituency's development agenda for the 2026/2027 Financial Year.

The National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) Mwatate has officially commenced a six-day public participation exercise across Mwatate Constituency for the 2026/2027 Financial Year.

The forums are aimed at giving residents an opportunity to propose, identify, and prioritize development projects that address the needs of their respective communities. This participatory process ensures that public resources are allocated to projects that reflect the aspirations and priorities of the people.

During the forum in Sembe Sub-location, Mwatate Ward, residents identified the fencing of Mwandisha Primary School, the construction of a modern administration block, and the construction of additional modern classrooms as their top development priorities.

Leading the NG-CDF Mwatate team, Hilda Zighe, a member of the NG-CDF Committee, emphasized that the public participation exercise is crucial in planning and implementing development projects that reflect the needs and aspirations of communities and learning institutions across the constituency.

Officials from the National Government, led by Mwatate Location Senior Chief Joseck Mbela, and the Mwatate Member of Parliament's representative, Mwaisaka Mwalegha, were among those who attended the forum.

Kishamba Primary School and Vichwala Primary School in Wusi Kishamba Ward, together with Godoma Primary School, Kwa Mnengwa Primary School, and Godoma Chief's Camp in Bura Ward, are set to benefit from the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) Mwatate infrastructural development programme for the 2025/2026 Financial Year.

Today, in the presence of Mwatate Member of Parliament, Hon. Peter Mbogho Shake, NG-CDF Mwatate conducted groundbreaking and project handover ceremonies for several development initiatives. At Kishamba Primary School, the MP presided over the groundbreaking for the construction of three modern classrooms, while at Vichwala Primary School, the reconstruction of 12 classrooms was officially handed over to the contractor, marking the commencement of works.

Other projects under the programme include the construction of one modern classroom at Godoma Primary School, two modern classrooms at Kwa Mnengwa Primary School, and the installation of a renewable solar-powered energy system at Godoma Chief's Camp.

Addressing residents and stakeholders during the events, Hon. Peter Mbogho Shake noted that the implementation of these projects reflects the steady progress of NG-CDF Mwatate's infrastructure development agenda across the constituency. He urged school management committees, local leaders, and residents to actively participate in the upcoming project proposal identification and prioritization public participation forums for the 2026/2027 Financial Year to ensure community priorities are reflected in future development plans.

The National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) Mwatate has officially launched a new phase of education infrastructure development projects that will benefit Kighononyi Primary School, Munda Secondary School, Kighombo Primary School in Rong'e Ward, and Mrughua Primary School in Bura Ward. The projects will be fully funded under the NG-CDF Mwatate Financial Year 2025/2026 allocation.

At Kighononyi Primary School, NG-CDF Mwatate will construct three modern classrooms to provide learners with a more conducive learning environment. Munda Secondary School will receive a fully equipped modern science laboratory, joining the growing number of secondary schools across the constituency benefiting from improved science infrastructure. Kighombo Primary School will also benefit from the construction of three modern classrooms, while Mrughua Primary School is set to receive six modern classrooms together with a six-door modern toilet block.

Speaking during the official groundbreaking ceremonies, Mwatate Member of Parliament Hon. Peter Mbogho Shake said the projects form part of the constituency's broader education infrastructure programme aimed at addressing the challenge of aging and inadequate learning facilities.

He noted that many schools across Mwatate Constituency still operate in dilapidated classrooms, emphasizing that the ongoing investments are intended to improve learning conditions and provide pupils and students with an environment that enables them to compete effectively with their peers in better-equipped schools.

NG-CDF Mwatate Committee Chairperson Ernest Kazonga said the projects are the result of extensive consultations with education stakeholders, school management committees, local leaders, and members of the public. NG-CDF Mwatate Commissions and Launches Key Education Projects Across the Constituency

The National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) Mwatate today undertook a series of development activities across Mwatate Constituency, marked by the commissioning of completed projects and the groundbreaking of new ones aimed at improving learning infrastructure.

Led by the Mwatate Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Peter Mbogho Shake, the NG-CDF Mwatate team officially handed over the construction of one modern classroom at Mwakitutu Primary School, two modern classrooms at Mururu Primary School in Chawia Ward, and one modern classroom at Mwatate Primary School in Mwatate Ward, all funded under the NG-CDF Mwatate Financial Year 2025/2026 allocation.

Later in the day, Hon. Shake officially handed over the fully reconstructed of nine classrooms at Kidaya Saghaighu Primary School in Wusi Kishamba Ward. The project, fully funded by NG-CDF Mwatate under the Financial Year 2024/2025 allocation, is expected to significantly enhance the school's learning environment and strengthen its educational infrastructure.

Speaking during the events, Hon. Shake emphasized that investment in the education sector remains one of the top priorities of both the NG-CDF and his Parliamentary Office. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the constituency's infrastructure development programme is implemented in line with the five-year strategic plan developed through extensive public participation forums.

The Member of Parliament was accompanied by members of the NG-CDF Mwatate Committee, religious leaders, local administrators, school management representatives, and other community leaders, who commended the continued investment in education as a key driver of socio-economic development across Mwatate Constituency.

PUBLIC NOTICE

2026/2027 F.Y PROJECT PROPOSALS IDENTIFICATION/PRIORITIZATION MEETINGS TO BE HELD IN EACH OF THE FIVE (5) WARDS IN MWATATE CONSTITUENCY

Section 27(1) of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund Act, 2015 as amended in 2023 requires the Chairperson of the National Government Constituency Development Fund Committee to convene open public forums/public meetings in every Ward in the Constituency to deliberate on development matters in the Wards and in the Constituency as a whole.

The open public forums/public meetings will enable the Mwatate National Government Constituency Development Fund Committee to draw up a priority list of projects, both immediate (2026/2027 F.Y) and long-term.

In line with the aforementioned requirements, we would like to invite the general public and all stakeholders in Mwatate Constituency to the open public forums that will guide the Mwatate National Government Constituency Development Fund Committee in developing the prioritized project proposals for the Financial Years 2026/2027 and 2027/2028.

The open public forums will be held in each of the five Wards of the Constituency as outlined below:
