SUPPORTING EDUCATION THROUGH IMPROVED LEARNING INFRASTRUCTURE

I was honoured to join the St. Teresa Mulala Girls' Secondary School fraternity during a fundraising event to support the construction of a dormitory. Investing in education infrastructure is an investment in our children's future, as it provides learners with a safe and conducive environment to excel academically.

I encouraged our young girls to remain focused on their studies and to abstain from premarital s*x in order to avoid early pregnancies, which often lead to school dropouts and exposing young mothers to poverty and the challenges of providing for their children. Education remains the surest path to empowerment, self-reliance, and a brighter future.

I also called upon leaders across the Ukambani region to provide visionary leadership by guiding our communities to work closely with the Government. Through collaboration, we can unlock greater development opportunities, including improved roads, reliable water supply, electricity, quality healthcare, and other essential public amenities that enhance the lives of our people.

Further, I underscored the need for leaders to embrace peaceful, respectful, and issue-based politics. We must reject conflict, incitement, and goonism, and instead champion politics driven by ideas and development agendas that place the interests of the common mwananchi at the centre of leadership. I was joined by other leaders in the region including Hon. Mwengi Mutuse, Fred Muteti , Prof. Phillip Kaloki among others.

Together, let us continue building a society where education thrives, peace prevails, and development is embraced as the anchor for every community.

WOMEN ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT CONTINUES TO TRANSFORM LIVES ACROSS MAKUENI COUNTY

I am encouraged by the continued success of the Women Economic Empowerment Programme, which has reached more women across Kilome, Kaiti, and Mbooni constituencies.

Following the successful engagement in Kilome Constituency, Kasikeu Ward , Kee Ward in Kaiti Constituency, and Kithungo Market in Kitundu Ward, Mbooni Constituency, we have continued to extend opportunities to women to improve their livelihoods, strengthen their businesses, and achieve greater economic independence.

The programme is empowering women through financial support, entrepreneurship, and access to economic opportunities that are improving household incomes, creating jobs, and stimulating local economic growth. When women are economically empowered, families prosper, communities become more resilient, and the nation moves forward.

As I emphasized during these forums, working closely with the Government is one of the best decisions communities can make. Through this partnership, our communities have witnessed greater development than ever before.

We have seen significant investments in roads, water projects, agriculture, healthcare, education, electricity connectivity, and other essential public services, all aimed at improving the quality of life for our people.

These achievements demonstrate that collaboration between citizens and the Government delivers tangible and lasting development.

I encourage women to continue embracing government empowerment programmes, invest wisely, work together in organized groups, and seize every opportunity available to improve their livelihoods.

Together, we will continue building stronger families, vibrant local economies, and prosperous communities as we advance Kenya's inclusive development agenda.

KENYA’S NATIONAL CARRIER RECLAIMS THE SKIES WITH THE COME – BACK OF THE BOEING 777

I joined the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Mr. Davis Chirchir, the Kenya Airways Board and Staff led by Ag. Chief Executive Officer and host Capt George Kamal and the aviation stakeholder fraternity to celebrate the return of the Boeing 777 to Kenya Airways’ fleet. This official flag off back to service is a clear sign of resilience, recovery and renewed commercial ambition for our national carrier.

This Boeing 777 300ER, refurbished and maintained after nearly ten years with Turkish Airlines, arrives in excellent condition and is ready to serve Kenyans and our trading partners. The Boeing 777 will form a vital addition to Kenya Airways’ long haul capacity, it seats over 400 passengers, offers significant cargo capability, and will operate the Nairobi–London (Heathrow) route 7x weekly from today. Its reintroduction will help meet rising passenger demand, expand cargo volumes, and improve schedule reliability at a time when global aircraft availability remains constrained.

At the State Department for Aviation & Aerospace Development, under the Ministry of Roads and Transport, we remain focused on ensuring we have the infrastructure, policy and regulatory environment that enables a thriving aviation sector.

The flag off demonstrates the Government’s confidence in Kenya Airways as a treasured national asset that drives trade, tourism and regional integration. I will continue to lead programs that back the carrier with the right infrastructure, regulatory support and commercial environment for sustainable growth.
I congratulate the Board, and staff of Kenya Airways on this achievement.

15TH JULY 2026
MAJOR MILESTONE FOR THE JKIA MODERNISATION PROJECT

I had the honour of signing the Engineer-Consultant Contract for the Consultancy Services for Design Review, Project Management, Contract Administration, and Construction Supervision for the Proposed Design, Development and Modernisation of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The signing, witnessed by the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Hon. Davis Chirchir, marks the beginning of a critical phase in delivering a modern, efficient, and world-class airport that will serve Kenya and the region for generations to come.

Through this contract, Dar Al-Handasah Consultants will provide engineering consultancy services covering design review, project management, contract administration, and construction supervision across the project's key components, ensuring the successful implementation of the JKIA Modernisation Programme.

The modernisation of JKIA is a strategic national investment that will enhance passenger experience, strengthen aviation safety and operational efficiency, expand airport capacity and reinforce Kenya's position as Africa's leading aviation hub.

As the State Department for Aviation and Aerospace Development, we remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering transformative aviation infrastructure that supports trade, tourism, investment, and sustainable economic growth in line with the Government's development agenda.

I thank all stakeholders for their continued collaboration and commitment as we take another significant step towards building a future-ready JKIA
