Ο Υπουργός Εξωτερικών κ. Κωνσταντίνος Κόμπος ανακοίνωσε σήμερα, μετά το πέρας του Υπουργικού Συμβουλίου, την απόφαση για παραχώρηση ετήσιας οικονομικής ενίσχυσης ύψους €75.000 προς το Πατριαρχείο Αλεξανδρείας.

Όπως ανέφερε ο Υπουργός Εξωτερικών, το ποσό θα παραχωρείται από κονδύλι του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών ως συνεισφορά της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας προς το Πατριαρχείο Αλεξανδρείας.

Ο κ. Κόμπος σημείωσε ότι το Πατριαρχείο Αλεξανδρείας διαθέτει ιστορική πορεία πέραν των δύο χιλιάδων ετών στην Αίγυπτο και στην Αφρική και συμβάλλει καθοριστικά στη διατήρηση της ορθόδοξης πίστης, επιτελώντας παράλληλα σημαντικό ιεραποστολικό έργο στις περιοχές αυτές.

Πρόσθεσε ότι το Πατριαρχείο διαδραματίζει σημαντικό ρόλο στις προσπάθειες διατήρησης των δεσμών του απόδημου Ελληνισμού με τις ρίζες, την ιστορία και τον πολιτισμό του.

«Η απόφαση αυτή συνιστά προέκταση της αξιοποίησης του εργαλείου της ήπιας διπλωματίας και συνδυάζεται με τις δράσεις που έχουμε αναπτύξει για την ενίσχυση των αποδήμων μας», ανέφερε ο Υπουργός Εξωτερικών.

NAIROBI - With Thanksgiving to God: Archbishop Makarios Celebrates 34 Years of Blessed Episcopal Ministry

With profound gratitude to Almighty God, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Kenya and Exarch of Eastern Africa joyfully commemorates thirty-four years of sacred ministry, giving glory to God for His unfailing love, mercy, and abundant blessings throughout this remarkable journey of service to Christ and His Holy Church.

This sacred week marks significant milestones in His Eminence’s ecclesiastical life. On 19th July, he gives thanks for his ordination to the Holy Diaconate; on 20th July, he commemorates his ordination to the Holy Priesthood; and on 25th July, he celebrates the anniversary of his Consecration to the Holy Episcopate—a sacred calling to shepherd the people of God with faithfulness, humility, and apostolic love.

Reflecting on these thirty-four years of ministry, Archbishop Makarios echoes the words of St. John Chrysostom: “Glory to God for all things.” Through every joy and every trial, the Lord has remained faithful, guiding His servant in the proclamation of the Holy Gospel, the strengthening of the Orthodox faith, and the expansion of the missionary work of the Patriarchate of Alexandria throughout Kenya and Eastern Africa.

His Eminence expresses his heartfelt gratitude to the clergy, monastics, faithful, benefactors, and all who have faithfully supported the Orthodox Mission over the years. Their prayers, dedication, and sacrificial love have played a vital role in the continued growth of the Church and in bringing the light of Christ to countless lives.

As the Orthodox Church celebrates this blessed milestone, we give thanks to God for the faithful leadership, pastoral care, and missionary vision of Archbishop Makarios. We pray that the Lord Jesus Christ will continue to grant him good health, wisdom, strength, and many more fruitful years of service for the glory of God and the salvation of His people.
