Sad news.
Death of a police officer.
On 26th September 2026 at about 1040 hours, a fatal road traffic accident involving police officers occurred along the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway within Kiboko Township area, approximately 13 kilometres west of Kiboko Police Station. Police officers who visited the scene established that a police officer was driving motor vehicle registration number KDY 525U, a Toyota Probox, from a feeder road while joining the main highway. As the vehicle proceeded towards the Mombasa general direction, it was struck on the left rear door by motor vehicle registration number KBJ 132C/ZD 8281, a Mercedes-Benz truck driven by Paul Musomba Ndambuki, aged about 45 years, who was travelling from Mombasa towards Nairobi. The impact caused the Probox to be dragged some distance off the road. At the time of the accident, it was daytime, and the road was tarmacked with a joining junction at the location.
As a result of the collision, one police officer, PC BENARD NG'ANG'A, (pictured),sustained fatal injuries and died, while four others sustained various injuries, including a deep facial cut and cervical fracture, a fracture to the left leg, severe head injuries, and serious head injuries accompanied by a fracture to the right leg. The injured officers were rushed to Makindu Sub-County Hospital for treatment, while the deceased's body was collected by Emali Police personnel. Both vehicles were towed to the police station pending inspection.
