The growing scrap metal trade is becoming a major contributor to the theft and destruction of metal bee hive stands.
In Kilifi Creek, Takaungu, women beekeepers woke up to find their bee hives grounded after the metal stands had been stolen. 💔🐝
It is truly heartbreaking to see the disappointment and pain written on their faces. These hives represent more than equipment—they represent livelihoods, hard work, hope, and an investment in their families and communities.
We urgently need stronger action against the theft and illegal trade of scrap metal to protect the livelihoods of beekeepers and the investments being made in our communities.
Protect the beekeeper. Protect the hive. Protect the livelihood.
