Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary, Ms. Roseline K Njogu today joined fellow Principal Secretaries, senior national and county government officials at the pre-summit meeting in preparation for the thirteenth(13th) National and County Governments Coordinating Summit.

On Friday, Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary, Ms. Roseline K Njogu met members of the Naari Dairy Co-operative Society during the Diaspora Mashinani interactive sessions. The discussions centred on milk production, value addition, and government efforts to support dairy farmers.

The PS outlined various government initiatives aimed at boosting productivity, supporting farmers, and expanding access to new markets for their products. She also urged cooperative members to embrace modern technology to remain competitive, particularly in the production of a wide variety of dairy products.

During the visit, the PS handed over milk churns to the group and highlighted the impact of the programme especially on skills and technology transfer that beneficiaries bring with them after the conclusion of their work period.

During the initiative, Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, Ms. Roseline K Njogu, held a consultative engagement with residents at the SDA Primary School in Maili Kumi in Meru County.

Accompanied by the area’s elected leader, NGAO officers, the chief, and opinion leaders, the PS, who was on a development inspection tour, outlined ongoing and upcoming Government initiatives aimed at boosting local economic opportunities.

Highlighting viable economic activities for the community, Ms. Njogu pointed out beekeeping as a key enterprise. She noted that beekeeping associations are being facilitated to improve production and value addition as she donated 40 modern beehives to support honey production and processing in the area.

Later, and in a bid to promote , one of the Government’s three-pronged strategies for job creation, PS Njogu donated 15 aluminium milk churns to dairy farmers in Kiirua. Diaspora Affairs PS, Ms. Roseline K Njogu has urged Kenyan youth to seize opportunities in both the domestic and global labour markets, while emphasizing the importance of conducting thorough due diligence before pursuing the opportunities

Speaking today during a sensitization session with continuing students from Meru National Polytechnic, Kiirua Technical Training Institute, and Samburu Technical and Professional College, the PS highlighted programmes available to young professionals seeking to work beyond Kenya's borders especially in ICT, hospitality, agriculture, among others.

The session, which drew largely from students in Agriculture and Hospitality programmes, centred on the initiative,particularly the Mkulima Majuu component, which connects skilled Kenyan agricultural professionals and graduates to international opportunities.

Students were also briefed on the mandate of the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, with specific emphasis on its role in protecting and promoting the welfare and rights of Kenyans living abroad.

Government targets 500,000 overseas jobs in push to tackle youth unemployment

The government has stepped up efforts to address youth unemployment by expanding access to jobs locally, online and abroad, with more than 500,000 Kenyans already securing employment overseas.

Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu said the government is pursuing a three-pronged strategy dubbed Kazi Majuu, Kazi Mtandaoni and Kazi kwa Ground to connect skilled and talented young people with employment opportunities.

Speaking during the second edition of the Kazi Majuu tournament at Kinoru Stadium in Meru County, Njogu said the government was committed to opening up more opportunities for young Kenyans both within the country and in international labour markets.

She said the Kazi Majuu programme had so far enabled more than 500,000 Kenyans to secure jobs abroad across various sectors, with the number expected to rise as Kenya implements bilateral labour agreements and Memoranda of Understanding with other countries.

Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary, Ms. Roseline K Njogu has said the fifth administration is committed to creating and opening up job opportunities for the youth.

Speaking during the second edition of the Kazi Majuu tournament at the Kinoru Stadium in Meru County, PS Njogu said the Government of Kenya is keen to ensure skilled and talented Kenyans access gainful employment through a three-pronged approach: Kazi Majuu(jobs abroad), Kazi Mtandaoni(jobs online, and Kazi kwa Ground(jobs in Kenya).

She added that through initiatives, over 500,000 Kenyans have already secured jobs abroad across various sectors of the economy, with more set to be engaged upon implementation of various bilateral labour agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).

Accompanied by officers from the Skills and Expertise Division, the PS led an information-sharing session on how to identify genuine opportunities and verify jobs.

The PS also outlined Government projects in the region, particularly electricity and water connections, noting their potential to spur youth employment through enterprise and irrigation farming.

PS Njogu further commended efforts to register more residents from the region on the Social Health Authority-SHA, platform, ensuring their inclusion in national health programmes and benefits.

The PS also highlighted reforms in the education sector aimed at equipping the youth with the right skills for the global labour market.

Sixty-four teams, including both men's and women's sides from North Imenti, participated in the tournament, underscoring the power of sports diplomacy in advancing .

The PS was accompanied to the event by the Meru County Youth Affairs, Sports, Gender, and Social Development CECM, Mr. Elias Murega where Huduma Kenya-Meru, provided services to those present including KUCCPS,SHA, certificate of good conduct, among others.
