Preparations for the 4th Edition of Maa Cultural and Tourism Festival are officially underway

The County Government of Narok County Secretary Mayiani Ole Tuya, chaired a planning meeting that brought together key stakeholders to lay the foundation for another impactful celebration of Maa culture, tourism, and regional integration.

The meeting focused on key preparatory areas, including:The constitution of a formal organizing committee to steer the planning process; To identify a suitable host location for the 4th Edition, Resource mobilization strategies to strengthen partnerships and ensure successful delivery of the event.

As planning gains momentum, CEO MAAEB Jackson Ole Mpario opined that the Bloc remains committed to working closely with the three Maa Counties and partners to deliver a memorable edition that showcases the richness of Maa heritage while promoting tourism, conservation, and socio-economic development.

A major milestone has been achieved for community-led conservation as H.E. Governor Patrick Keturet Ole Ntutu today assented to the Narok County Wildlife Conservancies Bill, 2026, officially signing it into law.

Developed under the Southern Landscape Programme at the Maa Economic Bloc (MAAEB), the new law establishes a legal framework for the recognition, governance, and support of wildlife conservancies in County Government of Narok. It also provides for the establishment of the Narok County Wildlife Conservancies Board and the Wildlife Conservancies Fund, strengthening community-based conservation while promoting sustainable tourism, biodiversity conservation, and improved livelihoods.

The signing ceremony was attended by MAAEB Chief Executive Officer, Jackson Ole Mpario, reaffirming the Bloc's commitment to supporting its member counties in advancing policies and legislation that strengthens community-led conservation and sustainable development across the Southern Landscape.

During the engagement, CEO Mpario highlighted the Southern Landscape Project, emphasizing its role in strengthening conservation, promoting sustainable tourism, enhancing community livelihoods, and fostering strategic partnerships across the southern conservation landscape. He underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in unlocking the region's tourism potential while safeguarding its rich natural and cultural heritage.
A key highlight of the meeting was the recognition of County Government of Narok, Samburu County Government and County Government of Kajiado., which were awarded Certificates of Partnership in appreciation of their continued collaboration and commitment to advancing sustainable tourism, and conservation.

MAAEB remains committed to working with partners to drive sustainable socio-economic development and position the Maa region as a premier tourism and investment destination.
