The 4th Annual Kenya Power E-Mobility Stakeholders Conference & Expo 2026 has come to a close, but the momentum towards sustainable mobility continues.

Over two days, stakeholders from across sectors explored how to align policy, infrastructure development, and strategic partnerships to effectively scale e-mobility within Kenya. The event brought together government ministries, development partners, local vehicle assemblers, and private sector innovators to address critical enablers, grid readiness, local assembly, and upcoming industry trends.

NaMATA was proud to partner with KPLC, GIZ, EMAK, and other key partners to bring this impactful event together. During the conference we shared key insights into the transition towards electric public transport and led an impactful session focusing on user and operator experiences. We remain committed to coordinating with our transit partners, including public transport operators to co-create an integrated, sustainable, and clean transit network.

The future is electric. The future is now.

NaMATA convened the "User experience: Building it together" panel at the 4th Annual E-Mobility Conference and Expo 2026, bringing together the Chairman of Metro Trans, Director of OMA Services Ltd, the Managing Director of eBee Africa, and the Chairman of the Boda Boda Safety Association of Kenya.

The panelists strongly advocated for the adoption of electric mobility, highlighting the benefits of electric buses over traditional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles, including improved efficiency, lower operating costs, and reduced emissions.

Electric motorcycles were widely noted for strong uptake among riders and passengers in Nairobi due to their affordability, quiet operation, and environmental benefits. Electric bicycles were also presented as a practical last-mile mobility option, with pedal-assist features making cycling easier and encouraging wider adoption, especially for daily commuting in the city.

Today marks the start of the 4th Annual E-Mobility Conference and Expo 2026 at KICC, taking place from 4–5 June 2026.

Over the next two days, transport stakeholders, industry leaders, innovators, policymakers, development partners, and change-makers will come together to explore pathways for accelerating sustainable mobility in Kenya.

Held under the theme, "Aligning Policy, Infrastructure Development and Partnerships to Scale E-Mobility in Kenya," the conference will provide a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration on the actions needed to drive the country's transition to cleaner and more efficient transport systems.

NaMATA is proud to participate as a partner in this important forum, contributing to discussions and collaborations that support the development of a sustainable, integrated, and future-ready transport system for the Nairobi Metropolitan Area and Kenya at large.

Happy World Public Transport Day 2026!

Nairobi’s celebrations began with a vibrant procession from Upper Hill to the Kenya National Archives, uniting partners and stakeholders in a shared commitment to better public transport.

The day continued with an exhibition where sector players showcased innovations and solutions shaping the future of mobility. The event was graced by UITP Africa Head, Laverne Dimitrov, alongside partners including Nairobi City County Government, State Department for Transport Kenya, Kenya Police Service NTSA KENYA and Federation of Public Transport Sector

As the day ends, we celebrate everyone who keeps Kenya moving, from matatu crews and SGR teams to bodaboda riders, planners, engineers, and commuters.
Public transport is more than movement, it’s how Kenya moves.
