🇰🇪🇮🇹 On Friday, President William Samoei Ruto presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the 12 km Mjanaheri–Ngomeni Road in Magarini, Kilifi County.

This key infrastructure is financed by the Italian Cooperation through a concessional loan to enhance mobility for local communities.
The project is realized by the Kenya Coast Development Authority and is expected to:

✅improve connectivity, reducing travel time from 1 hour to just 15 minutes
✅facilitate access to essential services
✅ Boost trade, tourism, fishing, and livelihoods across the area.

Over 600,000 people are expected to benefit from the road.

The edu-WISE initiative kicks off in !

Realized by CEFA - Kenya & Somalia with a consortium of partners, the project will work across Nairobi, Murang’a and Makueni counties to strengthen technical and vocational education systems and expand access to education and employment for young people with disabilities 🧑‍🦽👨🏾‍🦽👨🏿‍🦽👩🏿‍🦽

Activities include:

- Upgrade of 9 Vocational Training Centres 🏫
- Provision of 135 scholarships for young persons with disabilities 📚
- Facilitation of 135 internships in 60 companies 💼

edu-WISE aims to contribute to a more inclusive society where every young person has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive 🌏

"The Italian Cooperation has consistently adopted an inclusive and participatory approach in its policies and interventions", said Fabio Minniti, Head of AICS Nairobi Office, "Through partnerships with public institutions, civil society organisations and private sector actors, we are working towards a shared long-term vision: strengthening people’s skills in order to reduce the gap between available competencies and labour market needs".

📍Kakuma, in Turkana County, is one of the largest refugee settlements in the world, hosting over 300,000 people from across the region 🌍

Here, Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo accompanied Vincenzo Del Monaco, Ambassador of Italy to Kenya, on a mission organised by UNHCR KENYA to gain first-hand insight into one of the most complex and dynamic humanitarian realities on the African continent 🇮🇹🇰🇪

🏥📚 From integrated health facilities to schools welcoming both refugee students and members of host communities, from meetings with local authorities to refugee-led organisations, and discussions with young students from the UNICORE programme, the mission offered a close look at a reality marked by the daily challenges of hosting displaced populations, but also by the opportunities emerging through a new approach promoted by the Government of Kenya—one increasingly focused on the socio-economic inclusion of refugees and peaceful coexistence with host communities.

🌱 A path that looks beyond emergency response, transforming reception, education, and essential services into opportunities for shared development. 🇮🇹🤝🇰🇪

Planting seeds for the future of Tanzanian ☕🌿 🇮🇹🇹🇿

Yesterday in Mbeya, Italy and Tanzania officially launched “Towards the Next Generation of Sustainable Quality Coffee Producers in Southern Tanzania” — a €2 million initiative financed by the Italian Cooperation and implemented by the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, in collaboration with illy Università degli studi di Trieste, CIHEAMBari, Ernesto Illy, the Coffee Board, and Africa Tanzania.

Over the next 3 years, across Mbeya, Songwe and Ruvuma Region the project will:

☕ Enhance productivity and quality for 12,000 smallholder farmers

🏗️ Upgrade infrastructure, packaging, and marketing to add value at source

🌍 Strengthen environmental and climate change mitigation

👩‍🌾Promote and skills development for Tanzanian youth and

🔗 Support 30 coffee cooperatives and long-term supply chain sustainability

This is the “Sistema Italia” at work — public institutions, academia, and the private sector joining forces with local stakeholders to build lasting and partnership between italy and Africa.
