Tribute to Kenyan artist, Patrick Mukabi
Photo: Mukabi (R) and his mentee (L) during the launch of Nyerere's exhibition Freefall Nairobi National Museum

The National Museums of Kenya joins the Kenyan art community in mourning the passing of Patrick Mukabi, a remarkable artist and dedicated mentor. Beyond his own celebrated practice, Mukabi was deeply committed to supporting young artists, often walking alongside them as they prepared for and presented their exhibitions.

His presence, encouragement, and quiet generosity left a lasting mark on many careers. His vibrant figurative paintings, known for their bold colour and warmth, remain an important part of his legacy. He will be remembered not only for his art, but for the lives he uplifted.

The rare Rock Python intercepted at the Namanga Border while being smuggled into Kenya has now found a safe home at the Nairobi National Museum Snake Park.

This powerful reptile is a reminder of the urgent need to protect our wildlife from illegal trade and exploitation. Today, it begins a new chapter—under care, conservation, and public education.

Let’s stand together to safeguard Kenya’s natural heritage. 🌍
