Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) is the government agency that has overall oversight responsibility of ICAO standards in Kenya. Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) was established on 24th October 2002 by the Civil Aviation (Amendment) Act, 2002 to take over the functions of the then Directorate of Civil Aviation (DCA) and the Civil Aviation Board (CAB) in the Ministry of Transport. It was e

stablished to lead in planning, development, management, regulation and operation of a safe, economical and efficient civil aviation system. The mandate of the Authority is essentially embedded in its functions which are enumerated in the Civil Aviation Act CAP 394 Laws of Kenya (2013). The Authority’s primary functions are:
• Regulation and oversight of Aviation Safety & Security
• Economic regulation of Air services and development of Civil Aviation
• Provision of Air Navigation Services
• Training of Aviation personnel

Earlier today, Skyward Airline launched its inaugural flight to Garissa, marking an important milestone in strengthening air connectivity and opening new opportunities for the region.

KCAA Chairman Mr. Brown Ondego, EBS alongside Ag. Director General Mr. Nicholas Bodo and Management, today paid a courtesy visit to the Indian High Commissioner to Kenya, Dr. Adarsh Swaika to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the aviation sector.

The meeting focused on aviation safety, aviation security, training and capacity building while exploring the current and future areas of collaboration between Kenya and India. The discussions reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to enhancing aviation safety standards, developing skilled aviation professionals and fostering innovation within the industry.

KCAA values strategic international partnerships that contribute to a safe, secure and sustainable aviation sector, and looks forward to continued collaboration with India in advancing these shared objectives.

Earlier today, KCAA Chairman Mr. Brown M. M. Ondego, EBS visited the new Kisumu Air Traffic Control Tower to inspect the newly installed systems and engage with the dedicated staff at our Kisumu station.

The visit provided an opportunity to assess the progress of the new installations, appreciate the professionalism of staff and reaffirm KCAA's commitment to enhancing aviation safety, operational efficiency and modern air navigation services across Kenya.
