🟡 Behind the scenes: preparing for the official launch of JUTE PORTRAITS
After the city projections that took place on May 28 & 29 🌙✨, the project now moves towards its official launch on June 2 🇮🇹.
The bamboo structures 🌿 that will host the final videomapping experience are being assembled — light architectural frames designed to support the immersive visual world of JUTE PORTRAITS.
These elements will become the stage for the project’s full presentation, where light, images, and storytelling will converge into a unified installation by Italian artist Franz Cerami 🎨
Step by step, the work is taking its final shape ahead of the official unveiling. 📸✨

Dopo le proiezioni urbane che si sono svolte il 28 e 29 maggio 🌙✨, il progetto si avvicina ora al suo lancio ufficiale del 2 giugno 🇮🇹.
Le strutture in bambù 🌿 che ospiteranno l’esperienza finale di videomapping — elementi architettonici leggeri pensati per sostenere l’universo visivo immersivo di JUTE PORTRAITS sono in fase di allestimento.
Queste strutture diventeranno il palcoscenico della presentazione completa del progetto, dove luce, immagini e narrazione si fonderanno in un’unica installazione dell’artista italiano Franz Cerami 🎨
Passo dopo passo, l’opera prende la sua forma definitiva in vista del lancio ufficiale. 📸✨

After lighting up Nairobi with the public projections of Jute Portraits, Italian artist Franz Cerami will join us for a new edition of Incontritaliani ✨

On Thursday 4 June at 6:30 PM at Enoteca Nairobi, Franz Cerami will speak about digital storytelling and present Jute Portraits, the project created in Kenya exploring coffee culture, people, and urban narratives through art, videomapping, and visual experimentation.

🌙✨ For two nights only, Nairobi becomes a canvas of light.

On May 28 & 29, surprise projections and urban light interventions by Italian artist Franz Cerami will appear across the city. 👁️

Inspired by Kenya’s coffee communities, JUTE PORTRAITS transforms faces, jute fibers, textures and landscapes into a living visual experience dedicated to memory, labor and identity. ☕✨

🔥 BREAKING BORDERS: XEDO IN NAIROBI 🔥
The Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi is proud to host Edoardo “Xedo” Bernardini 🇮🇹🔥, international Breaking judge and one of the leading figures in the global Hip Hop and Breaking scene.
💥 Active as a B-Boy since 2002, Xedo is an international judge for the World DanceSport Federation and has been deeply involved in the Olympic Breaking pathway, including the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games qualification processes. He is widely recognized for his work as a judge, educator, and mentor in the global Breaking community.
During his stay in Nairobi, Xedo will take part in:

✨ 🎤 Panel discussion speaker on Hip Hop, culture and social transformation
✨ 🔥 Judge of the dance cypher

L’Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Nairobi è orgoglioso di ospitare Edoardo “Xedo” Bernardini 🇮🇹🔥, giudice internazionale di Breaking e una delle figure di riferimento della scena Hip Hop globale.
💥 Attivo come B-Boy dal 2002, Xedo è giudice internazionale della World DanceSport Federation ed è stato protagonista del percorso olimpico del Breaking, inclusi i processi di qualificazione per Parigi 2024 e Dakar 2026. È riconosciuto a livello internazionale per il suo lavoro come giudice, formatore e mentore.

SINCRONIA at Fort Jesus ✨
On April 23, the Fort was transformed into an immersive space of sound and images thanks to , an audiovisual experience blending art, music, and architecture 🎶🎥
Through video mapping projected onto the historic walls, and musician created a unique performance, combining electroacoustic music with coastal Kenyan sounds, including Mijikenda rhythms and references to taarab traditions 🌊
A contemporary dialogue between past and present, culminating in a powerful live improvisation of sound and real-time visuals.
The evening opened with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque dedicated to Giovanni Battista Cairati, celebrating the shared cultural heritage between Italy and Kenya 🇮🇹🇰🇪
A heartfelt thank you to all the authorities and guests in attendance, and to the artists for their outstanding performance.

SINCRONIA a Fort Jesus ✨
Lo scorso 23 aprile il Forte si è trasformato in uno spazio immersivo di suono e immagini, grazie a , un’esperienza audiovisiva capace di intrecciare arte, musica e architettura 🎶🎥
Attraverso il video mapping sulle mura storiche, e il musicista hanno dato vita a una performance unica, combinando musica elettroacustica con sonorità della costa kenyana, tra ritmi mijikenda e richiami alla tradizione taarab 🌊
Un dialogo contemporaneo tra passato e presente, culminato in una potente live improvisation tra suono e visual in tempo reale.
La serata si è aperta con lo svelamento della targa commemorativa dedicata a Giovanni Battista Cairati, a celebrare il patrimonio culturale condiviso tra Italia e Kenya 🇮🇹🇰🇪
Un sentito grazie a tutte le autorità e al pubblico presente e agli artisti per la straordinaria performance.
