The Commandant General, National Youth Service, James K. Tembur, MBS, today hosted the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Airports Authority, Mr. Moses Wekesa, at the Service Headquarters, for a high-level consultative meeting to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions.

The discussions focused on areas of mutual interest and strategic cooperation in support of the respective mandates of the National Youth Service and the Kenya Airports Authority. The two leaders explored opportunities for partnership in youth empowerment, skills development, technical training, infrastructure support, workforce development, and other initiatives that contribute to national development and service delivery.

The Commandant General underscored the National Youth Service's commitment to producing disciplined, skilled, and productive young people, capable of supporting key sectors of the economy, while the Managing Director emphasized the importance of building strong institutional partnerships to enhance operational efficiency and support the country's development agenda.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both organizations to fostering collaboration, leveraging institutional strengths, and pursuing innovative initiatives that create opportunities for youth while advancing the strategic objectives of the two entities. The engagement concluded with a mutual commitment to further consultations aimed at translating the discussions into actionable programmes and sustainable partnerships for the benefit of the nation.

Physical fitness is an integral component of the National Youth Service training programme, aimed at developing resilient, disciplined, and mission-ready service members capable of effectively executing their duties in service to the nation.

Today, the Deputy Commandant General in charge of Paramilitary Training and National Service, Evans T. Yaite joined recruits and officers at the Paramilitary Academy in Gilgil, Nakuru County for an early morning physical training session and endurance run. The exercise forms an integral part of the Service’s structured training curriculum, aimed at enhancing physical fitness, mental resilience, teamwork, and operational readiness.

Following the training session, the Deputy Commandant General joined recruits and officers in the our monthly Thanksgiving prayers, which were simultaneously observed across all NYS camps.

The National Youth Service remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing disciplined, physically fit, and patriotic young men and women who are prepared to serve the nation with dedication, professionalism, and excellence.

Today, National Youth Service Officers, led by the Commandant General, James K. Tembur, MBS, joined H.E. President William Samoei Ruto and fellow Kenyans in Wajir County for the 63rd Madaraka Day Celebrations.

Under this year's theme, “Education: Skills and the Future,” the celebrations underscored the critical role of education, skills development, and youth empowerment in driving national transformation. As an institution mandated to nurture and equip young people with practical skills, discipline, and values, the National Youth Service remains committed to empowering the youth to become self-reliant, productive citizens and agents of positive change.

As the nation prepares to mark the 63rd Madaraka Day Celebrations, the Commandant General James K. Tembur, MBS paid a morale-boosting visit to the National Youth Service Detachment in Wajir County, where Service personnel are undertaking intensive parade rehearsals.

During the visit, the Commandant General commended the troops for their discipline, dedication, and commitment to duty while serving peacefully in the region. He particularly praised their outstanding performance during parade rehearsals, noting that their professionalism reflects the core values and excellence of the National Youth Service.

The visit greatly uplifted the morale of the Service personnel, who expressed their appreciation for the Commandant General's support and leadership.
Inspired by his encouragement, the troops reaffirmed their commitment to delivering a spectacular and flawless march-past during tomorrow's national celebrations.

The National Youth Service remains steadfast in its mission of nurturing disciplined, patriotic, and service-oriented young Kenyans who continue to make the nation proud. The multi-agency parade contingent preparing for the upcoming Madaraka Day Celebrations scheduled for 1st June 2026 in Wajir County today marked the Eid al-Adha public holiday through acts of compassion and community service by visiting Wajir School for the Deaf and Wajir GK Prison.

The outreach initiative was led by Colonel A.A. Husein, Base Commander Wajir Air Base, alongside Lt. Col V.O. Onditi, Parade Commander for Madaraka Day 2026 preparations in Wajir County.

The visit demonstrated the spirit of unity, patriotism, and service to humanity that continues to define the team ahead of this year’s national celebrations.

Champions’ welcome at the Paramilitary Academy.

The NYS Paramilitary Academy family proudly welcomed home their heroes after emerging victorious in the just concluded 6th Edition of the NYS Athletics Championship held at NYS Camp Yatta.

The team secured the 1st position following outstanding performances, determination, discipline, and teamwork displayed throughout the championship.

Congratulations to all the athletes, the NYS Sports Committee, coaches, and officials for making the championship a great success. Well done to everyone involved.

Today marked a momentous occasion during the grand opening ceremony and official handover of the NYS Sharifa Masjid, constructed within the NYS Headquarters, Nairobi.

The successful completion of the mosque stands as a significant milestone in enhancing the spiritual welfare of officers and service members within the National Youth Service. The construction project was fully undertaken and completed through the generous support of Dr. Wassim Bhut.

The ceremony was graced by Hon. Ismail Maalim Madey, CBS, Principal Secretary, State Department for Special Programmes, while the event was hosted by the Commandant General, James K. Tembur, MBS.

Also present were the Chairman, NYS Council, Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Mulata, Deputy Commandant General Nicholas Makokha, Deputy Commandant General Evans Yaite, senior officers of the Service, and other distinguished guests.

The official handing over and taking over of the NYS Sharifa Masjid marks a major achievement in fostering spiritual growth, unity, and inclusivity within the Service.
