​RE: CLARIFICATION ON MISSION OPERATIONS AND RECENT MEDIA RUMORS

​NAIROBI, KENYA — The Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan in Nairobi wishes to address recent unverified claims and misleading reports circulating on social media regarding the alleged closure of the Mission due to rent arrears.

​The Embassy wishes to clarify that the Mission remains fully open and operational. However, consular and administrative services are currently experiencing minor disruptions due to a localized power outage caused by a sudden electrical surge. Technical teams are actively working to resolve the issue, and full normal power supply is expected to be restored shortly.

​Furthermore, the Embassy categorically refutes any reports suggesting official engagements, consultations, or arrangements between the Chargé d'Affaires and third-party political groups regarding embassy administration or financial operations. The Mission adheres strictly to established diplomatic protocols and official government procedures. Any claims alleging contact or offers of financial assistance to the Mission's diplomatic leadership are entirely unfounded and false.

​Members of the public, media outlets, and the South Sudanese diaspora are advised to disregard unverified statements and rely solely on official communications issued through the Embassy’s recognized channels.

​The Embassy appreciates the patience and understanding of the public during this brief inconvenience.

(31st July, 2026) The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Amb. James Pitia Morgan, accompanied by the Chargé d'Affaires a.i., Ambassador Barnaba Bol Nyuol, and senior diplomatic staff from the Embassy of South Sudan in Nairobi, today held a high-level bilateral meeting with the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Dr. Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, EGH.

​Hon. Amb. James Pitia Morgan briefed the Prime Cabinet Secretary on the ongoing preparations and progress towards South Sudan’s upcoming general elections, reiterating the Government’s commitment to a peaceful, credible, and democratic electoral process.

​The meeting also focused on strengthening the long-standing diplomatic relations between South Sudan and Kenya, with a primary emphasis on enhancing economic diplomacy, expanding bilateral trade ties, regional infrastructure connectivity, and joint security collaboration. Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation for the prosperity of both nations.

(30th July, 2026) The Chargé d'Affaires a.i., Ambassador Barnaba Bol Nyuol, today received the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Amb. James Pitia Morgan, upon his arrival in Nairobi.

​Hon. Amb. James Pitia Morgan is in Kenya on an official visit to engage in high-level bilateral discussions with officials from the Government of the Republic of Kenya to further strengthen diplomatic ties between the two sisterly nations.

​Upon arrival, the Honorable Minister and his accompanying delegation were warmly received at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by senior representatives from Kenya's Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs alongside the staff of the Embassy of South Sudan in Nairobi.

(15th July, 2026) The Chargé d' Affaires a.i. Ambassador Barnaba Bol Nyuol accompanied Hon. Aleu Ayieny Aleu, Minister of Interior of the Republic of South Sudan as he paid a courtesy call on his Kenya counterpart, Cabinet Secretary for the Interior and National Administration, Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen E.G.H.

The delegations held talks focused on strengthening coordination and collaboration on border security and immigration management including South Sudanese nationals residing in Kenya.

They pledged to continue strengthening the close historical ties that exist between the 2 sisterly nations.

Memorial Service ✝️

The Embassy wishes to inform that the memorial service and body viewing of the Late Hon. William Deng Deng (Deng Anyanya) shall be held at Motezuma Funeral Home (details below) on Wednesday 15th July, 2026, at 1.30pm.

The family invites friends, family and former colleagues to pay their last respects before the repatriation of his remains to South Sudan.

CHARGÉ D'AFFAIRES A.I. AMB. BARNABA BOL NYUOL PAYS COURTESY CALL ON KENYA’S CHIEF OF PROTOCOL

​(29th May, 2026) — The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Amb. Barnaba Bol Nyuol, paid a formal courtesy call on the Chief of Protocol for the Government of Kenya, Ms. Severine Luyali, at the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

​During the audience, Amb. Bol formally introduced himself in his capacity as the Deputy Head of Mission. He underscored the strategic importance of the bilateral relationship and pledged to ensure seamless, proactive coordination between the Mission and the Ministry to advance shared diplomatic objectives.

​The Chief of Protocol extended a warm welcome to Amb. Bol upon his assumption of duties in Nairobi. Ms. Luyali characterized the Republic of South Sudan and the Republic of Kenya as sisterly nations bound by enduring ties, assuring the Ambassador of the Ministry’s comprehensive support and institutional cooperation throughout his tenure.
