Yesterday, our Political Section joined ESRC-Hakijamii | NGO | Human Rights | Community Voices and community members in Deep Sea Informal Settlement for a stakeholder forum and a community-led walk through the neighbourhood.

The visit gave us a firsthand understanding of the challenges residents face in accessing land, housing and essential services such as water, sanitation, healthcare and education. It was also an opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships and discuss practical solutions for more inclusive communities.

Something is taking shape. This July, munyu and ARCH+ present The Great Repair: umunyu - the first African edition of the internationally acclaimed exhibition exploring repair as a social, ecological, and cultural practice.

Bringing together artists, architects, designers, researchers, and community practitioners from Kenya and across the world, the exhibition asks a timely question:

What does it mean to repair a world in constant transition?

More than fixing what is broken, umunyu invites us to think of repair as an everyday practice of care, maintenance, resistance, imagination, and collective responsibility.

Munyu, The Mall, Westlands (Basement & Mezzanine)
Exhibition Dates: 31 July - 25 October 2026
Opening: 30 July 2026

Over the coming weeks, we'll be sharing the artists, ideas, public programme, and conversations that make up The Great Repair: umunyu. Join us as we explore the many ways repair already exists around us.

Dialogue meets practice: German-Kenyan Business Day
Today, German and Kenyan companies, associations, and policy makers gathered in Berlin to align economic and development perspectives. The goal? To incorporate practical insights from the private sector, challenges, and project ideas directly into upcoming government negotiations.
From sectoral deep dives via breakouts on agribusiness, digitalisation, renewable energy, and labor mobility, to exploring strategic de-risking instruments - practical experience is shaping the future of German-Kenyan cooperation.
A huge thank you to all speakers, experts, and participants for bringing actionable insights to the table!
