Tourism Principal Secretary Amb.(Prof) Julius Kibet Bitok held a meeting with the Kenya Utalii College Governing Council, led by its Chairman, Mr. Mahmud Jan Mohamed, to receive a comprehensive briefing on the College's operations, governance, institutional performance, and strategic priorities.
The discussions focused on the institution's progress in hospitality and tourism training, ongoing initiatives to strengthen skills development, and opportunities to enhance the quality, relevance, and competitiveness of tourism education in support of Kenya's growing tourism sector.
The meeting reaffirmed the College's pivotal role in developing a highly skilled workforce capable of meeting the evolving needs of the tourism and hospitality industry, both locally and internationally.
The Principal Secretary commended the Governing Council and the College's management for their steadfast leadership and commitment to excellence in hospitality and tourism training. He emphasized the need to continually align academic programmes with industry demands, embrace innovation and digital transformation, strengthen research and applied learning, and deepen collaboration with both public and private sector stakeholders to ensure graduates remain globally competitive.
Further discussions explored strategies to enhance institutional capacity, strengthen governance, expand strategic partnerships, and diversify revenue streams to support the College's long-term sustainability and growth.
The Principal Secretary reaffirmed the Government's commitment to supporting Kenya Utalii College as a premier centre of excellence in hospitality and tourism training, recognizing its vital contribution to human capital development, service excellence, job creation, and the realization of the national tourism agenda as a key pillar of Kenya's socio-economic transformation.
