The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Mr. Davis Chirchir EGH., today visited the KETRACO exhibition booth at the 5th Annual Conference of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya (ACEK), running from 12-14 August, 2026.

Eng. Timothy Murithi, KETRACO Engineer, briefed the CS on the company’s mandate, key achievements and strategic investments in Kenya’s transmission infrastructure, including the National System Control Centre, STATCOM technology for enhanced grid stability, and strategic projects such as the Kisumu–Kakamega–Musaga 220kV transmission line.

Held under the theme “Engineering Transformation: Scaling Green Growth, Smart Infrastructure and Resilient Futures,” the conference offers an opportunity for meaningful conversations, knowledge sharing, technical insights and connections focused on shaping the future of engineering.

hosted a stakeholder engagement meeting to review the progress of the Kenya Electricity Transmission PPP projects with the consortium comprising Africa50 and Power Grid Corporation of India.

The meeting, led by our Ag. Managing Director, Eng. Kipkemoi Kibias, provided an opportunity to discuss financing arrangements, project implementation and the collaborative efforts required to accelerate the development of critical transmission infrastructure.

The projects are expected to play a key role in strengthening Kenya’s electricity transmission network, improving grid reliability, reducing system losses, unlocking new generation capacity and expanding access to reliable electricity.

Through strategic partnerships and innovative financing models, Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) continues to advance investments that will support Kenya’s growing energy needs and contribute to a more resilient and efficient national grid.
