KEPHIS PARTICIPATES IN AGRICULTURAL EXPO 2026 AT KAIMOSI AGRICULTURAL TRAINING CENTRE
The Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) participated in the two-day Agricultural Expo 2026, held at the Kaimosi Agricultural Training Centre in Nandi County bringing together farmers, agricultural stakeholders, researchers, innovators, government institutions, private-sector players and development partners under the theme: โAdopting Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Agriculture through Value Addition.โ
The Expo provided an important platform for stakeholders in the agricultural sector to showcase innovations, share knowledge and explore practical solutions aimed at transforming agriculture into a more productive, sustainable and commercially viable sector. It also highlighted the critical role of technology, value addition and partnerships in enhancing food security, improving farmers' incomes and creating employment opportunities across the agricultural value chain.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, accompanied by the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Hon. Felix Koskei. Also in attendance were His Excellency Stephen Sang, Governor of Nandi County; Hon. Cynthia Muge, Woman Representative, Nandi County; Hon. Julius Melly, MP Tinderet; Members of County Assemblies (MCAs); Chairpersons and CEOs of various State Corporations; and other leaders.
Their presence underscored the Government's commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector and supporting initiatives that promote innovation, productivity, value addition and sustainable economic development.
KEPHIS showcased its mandate and the critical role it plays in safeguarding Kenya's agricultural sector through the regulation and management of plant health, seed quality and variety protection. The Service continues to work closely with farmers, seed companies, exporters, researchers, agro-dealers, county governments and other stakeholders to ensure that agricultural production is supported by quality inputs and a healthy plant environment.
The Expo also provided KEPHIS with an opportunity to interact directly with farmers and agricultural stakeholders, create awareness on plant health and seed quality requirements, and demonstrate the importance of using certified seed and complying with phytosanitary measures.
As agriculture continues to evolve, innovation and technology remain key drivers of sustainable agricultural transformation. KEPHIS remains committed to embracing modern technologies, strengthening surveillance and inspection systems, enhancing diagnostic capabilities, promoting digital solutions and working with partners to ensure that Kenya's agricultural sector remains resilient, productive and competitive.
