RAMADHAN: TO OUR MUSLIM BROTHERS AND SISTERS, REMEMBER THE KENYAN YOUTH IN YOUR PRAYERS DURING THE HOLY MONTH:
As our Muslim brothers and sisters mark the Holy Month of Ramadhan - the 9th month on the Islamic Calendar - I wish to join everyone in wishing them happy celebrations.
As you fast and pray during this important period of your religious journey, I request you to remember our nation in light of the myriads of challenges afflicting humanity within and outside its borders.
This is also a great moment to take a deeper and incisive introspection into the question of humanity while interrogating our respective roles in the realization of the goal of creating the world a better place for all of us.
In your prayers don't forget to situate the youth of this country whose lives have been turned upside down by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Job losses. Mental sickness. Disillusionment. Pressures of life. This segment of the society is under turmoil and in dire need of our prayers and moral support.
In your prayers remember this critical yet vulnerable segment of the society that is staring at major catastrophe unless urgent measures are taken.
The future of this great country will love so dearly is hinged on the decisions made by young people today.
Additionally, may this Holy Month give you the platform to reflect on the place of religion in the betterment of our society.
Religion - as the custody of morals and virtues - plays a fundamental role in shaping a better future for all of us.
On behalf of the Kenya Youth Alliance (KYA) and my family, I want to take this moment to wish you Ramadhan Kareem and Saum Maqbul.
