Wednesday, 12th August 2026 | Kericho County, Kenya
The Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA) today recorded stellar victories in the swimming pool competition, leading an action-packed day of competition at the ongoing WASPA Games 2026 in Kericho County, demonstrating individual brilliance, organizational discipline, and outstanding athleticism as the AWWDA swimmers stole the spotlight with a dominant sweep across multiple aquatic events.
Eng. Denning Kiai delivered an outstanding performance in the men's category, securing 1st place in the 25m Freestyle, 25m Breaststroke, and 50m Men's race. In the ladies' events, Hilda matched that gold-standard achievement by claiming top honours in the 25m Backstroke, 25m Freestyle, and 50m Ladies' race. Capping off a remarkable showing in the pool, the AWWDA swimming team earned a podium finish, taking 3rd place in the relay race.
Across other venues, AWWDA contingents maintained strong resilience and sportsmanship against challenging opposition. The womenโs volleyball team put up a firm, spirited fight in a tough fixture against Nairobi Water, while the men's football squad emerged third in the group stages with six points, winning two matches and lost against Kakamega Water (KACWASCO) currently playing in Division I and Danco Pipes.
In tug of war, the men's team battled hard against Kericho Water (KEWASCO) the hosts, while the ladies' squad displayed commendable persistence in their pull contests against KEWASCO and RUJWASCO.
Eng. Mburu Mwangi also dominated the chess tournament winning another match and proceeding to the next stage.
The Agency is still on track and preparing for track events, tug of war and chess slated for Thursday and Friday.
