The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has underscored the importance of stakeholder collaboration at the ongoing 3rd Annual Educational Assessment Symposium being held at the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) headquarters in Nairobi.

Delivering his keynote address today 4th May 2026, KICD Director/CEO, Prof. Charles Ong’ondo, called on education stakeholders to actively embrace the symposium’s theme: “Data-Driven Assessment for Evidence-Based Education Policy.”He urged stakeholders to strengthen data generation systems within learning institutions, integrate institutional data to support cohesive analysis and informed decision-making, reimagine human resource capacity to enhance data management and utilization, and actively engage policy makers and implementers to ensure assessment data translates into effective education policy and practice.

Prof. Ong’ondo noted that leveraging data-driven assessment is fundamental to advancing evidence-based reforms and improving learning outcomes across Kenya’s education sector.
