Health Summit 2026: Advancing Maternal and Newborn Health

At the Health Summit 2026, H.E. Rachel Ruto reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to strengthening healthcare systems and ensuring that every woman and every newborn has the opportunity to survive and thrive.

During Day Two of the Summit, the First Lady officially launched the EWENE (Every Woman, Every Newborn, Everywhere) Acceleration Plan, a bold national initiative under the “Okoa Mama, Okoa Mtoto” campaign. The plan seeks to strengthen maternal and newborn healthcare services, expand access to quality care, equip health facilities with life-saving medical equipment, and accelerate interventions aimed at reducing preventable maternal and neonatal deaths.

During the Summit, H.E. Rachel Ruto and her delegation also visited the KUTRRH exhibition booth, where they were taken through the hospital’s specialized services, innovations, research and training initiatives, and contributions to maternal and newborn health.

The KUTRRH team showcased the hospital’s role in advancing specialized and referral care, research, training, innovation, and patient-centred healthcare, while highlighting its contribution to Kenya’s national health priorities.

The journey towards a healthier Kenya calls for partnership, innovation and sustained investment in quality healthcare. Together, we can build a future where every pregnancy is safer, every birth receives quality care, and every newborn gets the best possible start to life.

Okoa Mama. Okoa Mtoto. Every Woman. Every Newborn. Everywhere.
