Day 3 of the countdown

Across our counties, libraries continue to shape informed, empowered communities through the simple but powerful act of reading. Each book opened is a step toward knowledge, opportunity, and national growth.

We invite county libraries to showcase these moments of impact from reading circles and school engagements to everyday interactions within your spaces.

Share your photos, reels, and videos using and tag us. Let us collectively demonstrate the reach, relevance, and resilience of library services across Kenya.

Together, we are not only promoting reading, we are strengthening a culture that sustains learning for generations.

Cohort 9 has officially completed the Basic ICT Skills Training programme at Maktaba Kuu. The training continues to play a key role in building practical digital skills and closing the gap in access to basic technology competencies.

Beyond certification, the real value is in what participants can now do, confidently use digital tools, access information more effectively, and apply these skills in work and daily life. This is the kind of impact that continues to strengthen digital inclusion across the information space.

A story can change everything.

The Annual National Reading Day 2026 is almost here.

Get ready to join a nationwide celebration of reading, storytelling and knowledge on Friday, 10th July 2026, with activities taking place throughout the week from 6th to 10th July across the country.

From engaging reading challenges and storytelling sessions to author engagements and interactive experiences for children, youth and families, the week promises meaningful participation for all.

The celebration will culminate in a national event at Maktaba Kuu, alongside coordinated activities in counties, schools, libraries and community spaces nationwide.

As we begin the countdown, we invite you to be part of the conversation.
