We join our dear brothers and friends Francis Anyanzu and George Macharia as they take their final vows today. It is such a joy.
It is particularly fitting that your Final Vows take place on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Heart of Christ, pierced and overflowing with love for humanity, stands as a powerful symbol of the vocation you embrace today. May His Heart continue to shape your own, making it ever more compassionate, generous, courageous, and available for the service of God's people. May you always find your strength, consolation, and joy in the boundless love of Christ.
As you take this final and definitive step in your Jesuit journey, I congratulate you wholeheartedly. May the Lord continue to bless you abundantly, deepen your fidelity, and fill your ministry with fruitfulness and joy. May He grant you the grace to remain always a faithful companion of Jesus, dedicated to the service of faith and the promotion of justice wherever you are sent.
Allow me to conclude with an Irish blessing: May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
And may the words of Father Pedro Arrupe, SJ, accompany you on this special day and throughout the years ahead: "I find myself more and more in the hands of God. This is what I have wanted all my life from my youth. But now there is a difference; the initiative is entirely with God. It is indeed a profound spiritual experience to know and feel myself so totally in God's hands." May this be your experience today and always.
With gratitude, admiration, prayer, and every good wish,
Marcel Uwineza SJ
