As we mark 75 years of the Australian Volunteer Program, we're proud to spotlight some incredible impact of volunteers and local partners working to build more inclusive communities. 💙♿

In rural Kilimanjaro, many children and adults living with disabilities face significant challenges accessing rehabilitation services due to distance, poor infrastructure, and limited transport. Through the work of Maisha Outreach Therapy Organisation , more people are receiving essential rehabilitation support and assistive devices.

This impact is made possible through the dedication of committed partners, supporters, and volunteers who believe that access to care should never depend on where someone lives. Together, we're helping create a future that is more inclusive, accessible, and empowering for all. 🙌

Remembering the victims of terrorism means recognising that behind every statistic is a person, a family and a community.

On 21 August, Australia joins the international community in honouring the victims and survivors of terrorism.

Across Africa, communities continue to confront terrorism and violent extremism, including in the Sahel and the Horn of Africa. Effective responses require more than security measures alone. They require strong institutions, resilient communities, international cooperation, respect for human rights and sustained support for those affected.

Australia is committed to working with African partners and institutions to counter terrorism and violent extremism, prevent conflict and build peaceful, resilient communities.

This commitment forms part of Australia’s broader vision for a stronger, more representative and effective United Nations, including greater permanent and non-permanent representation for Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Asia-Pacific.

As we remember, we reaffirm our shared responsibility to prevent terrorism, support victims and build lasting peace.

Australian Chargé D'affaires to Kenya HE Andrew Barnes visited the Orapsang FMNR Self Help Group in Elgeyo Marakwet County, where farmers are using Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration to regenerate their land, improve productivity and strengthen household incomes.

Supported by the Australian Government through and , the Central Rift FMNR Scale-Up Project has reached more than 11,000 households across the region and restored more than 12,000 hectares.

The visit was hosted by the Interim National Director, Dr Gershon Mwakazi, alongside Resource Acquisition Director Lillian Mageto who were joined by Elgeyo Marakwet County Director for Water, Climate Change & Environment Dr Felix Rotich, Assistant County Commissioner Tambach Sarah Kemboi and project teams supporting implementation on the ground.

We were delighted to welcome Dr. Abraham Korir Sing'Oei to Australia for a series of engagements that underscored the growing Australia–Kenya relationship.

In Sydney, he participated in a business roundtable hosted by Dr. Paul Grimes, CEO of Austrade, bringing together leaders from tourism, renewable energy, mining, engineering, agribusiness, and trade to discuss Kenya’s development ambitions and investment opportunities. 📈🤝

At the University of Technology Sydney, he met Kenyan students and engaged the university’s leadership on expanding higher education collaboration between Kenya and Australia. 🎓🌍

Dr. Sing’Oei also held productive discussions with senior Australian officials on multilateral cooperation, international security, counter-terrorism, and efforts to combat modern slavery.

As Australia and Kenya continue to deepen ties, we look forward to building on our shared commitment to economic growth, education, security, and greater connections between our communities.
