National Counter Terrorism Centre - Kenya convened stakeholders in Kitui County from 26–28 May 2026 to review and align the County Action Plan (CAP) with the .

The workshop brought together government officials, security actors, civil society organisations, youth representatives, religious leaders, and community groups to strengthen local efforts in preventing and countering violent extremism.

Discussions focused on adapting national priorities to Kitui’s context, assessing progress made under the outgoing CAP, identifying emerging challenges, and developing a more responsive and inclusive action plan. Participants also explored ways to strengthen coordination, enhance early warning and response mechanisms, and promote meaningful engagement of youth, women, and community leaders.

The review marks an important step towards building resilient communities through evidence-based, locally driven solutions and a whole-of-society approach to PCVE.

On 26th May 2026, PCVE stakeholders gathered in Elgeyo Marakwet County, for the establishment of the Security and Community Policing Working Group (SCPWG).

The initiative, spearheaded by National Counter Terrorism Centre - Kenya in Partnership with European Union in Kenya, was attended by participants from the office of Interior, County Government, CSOs, CBOs, business community, and boda boda leaders.

The workshop is intended to create a coordinated, informed, and proactive system where communities and institutions can monitor and anticipate VE risks, share information effectively, and act early to reduce impacts.

Through NCTC’s role in capacity building, the event reinforces the NSPCVE 2025–2030 priority of building resilience and reducing vulnerability to radicalization.

Over a two-day training, teachers, Ministry of Education - Kenya representatives, area chiefs, sub-chiefs, and local leaders came together for a Child Safety and Security Against Violent Extremism training aimed at equipping educators and communities with knowledge and skills to identify risks, promote safe learning environments, and protect children and youth from recruitment, radicalization, and exploitation by violent extremist groups in
Baringo County

Together, we continue to build informed, vigilant, and resilient communities for a safer future.

Prepared and informed frontline officers are key to preventing violent extremism. Supported by European Union in Kenya and as part of ongoing efforts under the Kenya–EU partnership, NCTC facilitated another sensitization session for a new cohort of over 700 Kenya Police Service trainees at Kiganjo Police Training College in Nyeri County on the implementation of the NSPCVE.

The session focused on raising awareness on radicalization pathways, strengthening prevention and response efforts, and equipping officers with practical skills to address extremist threats while upholding human rights and community trust.

Through such partnerships, NCTC continues advancing NSPCVE implementation and strengthening frontline capacity to build safer and more resilient communities.

National Counter Terrorism Centre - Kenya concluded a high-impact sensitization drive reaching 2,944 NYS trainees across 4 National Youth Service camps- Yatta, Athi River, Mavoloni & Tana Basin.

The engagement helped to:
• Shift awareness from confusion to clarity on terrorism vs. organized crime.
• Build resilience against digital & religious radicalization.
• Foster patriotism & the "brother's keeper" ethos.

Despite weather & logistical challenges, the demand is clear: continuous, simplified and participatory engagement is key.

Grateful for the partnership with the European Union in Kenya in securing our youth.

The National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) convened a County Action Plan (CAP) review workshop in Bungoma County to assess implementation progress and strengthen alignment with the National Strategy for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (NSPCVE).

The forum enabled county stakeholders to interrogate existing interventions, identify implementation gaps, and recalibrate priorities across key thematic areas, including awareness, empowerment, early response, and governance.

Deliberations focused on strengthening institutional coordination, enhancing early warning and response mechanisms, and advancing evidence based, locally driven interventions to address evolving drivers of violent extremism.

The NCTC with funding from UNDP, hosted a two-day MERL workshop at . 70+ experts from government, CSOs, and academia united to refine monitoring frameworks and evidence-based learning for effective interventions and resource mobilization in PCVE.
