The Kenya Urban Support Programme Phase Two (KUSP2) today held a technical meeting with the Department of Refugees to provide an update on planned interventions in Kakuma and Dadaab-Hagadera municipalities. The meeting brought together CS MWASARU, Commissioner for Refugee Affairs, and the KUSP2 team led by Planner Daido. Discussions focused on the progress and state of proposed interventions, highlighting the importance of coordination among key stakeholders in advancing planned urban development initiatives in the two municipalities.

The State Department for Housing and Urban Development, through the Second Kenya Urban Support Programme (KUSP2), seeks to strengthen urban institutions and improve urban governance across participating municipalities. A key priority under the programme is to enhance communication capacity and ensure that information on municipal initiatives is accessible, visible, and effectively disseminated to the public. The importance of this visibility is reflected in objectives of KUSP result area objectives including infrastructure and service delivery.

The Kirinyaga County Government has rolled out a Sh33 million modernisation project to give Kutus town a major facelift and create a more conducive environment for businesses, residents and visitors.

The project, funded through the World Bank-supported Kenya Urban Support Programme (KUSP), will involve the installation of 2,500 square metres of cabro paving, construction of pedestrian walkways and storm-water drainage systems, stone pitching, landscaping and extensive tree planting.
